Just when you think there couldn't possibly be a more stomach-turningly uncomfortable premise on Louis C.K.'s TV show Louie—in one episode, Louie tried to get frisky with the inimitable Joan Rivers—Dane Cook makes a guest appearance.

If you didn't see the episode that aired Aug. 4 yet, but you know the history between comics C.K. and Cook (if you don't, Cook was accused of plagiarizing three or four of C.K.'s jokes a few years ago), here is a warning: There are some gut-twisting moments when Louie goes backstage at a Cook show.

The only comedic TV characters to conjure up that kind of close-your-eyes-because-you-can't-bear-to-watch-what's-coming cringing have been David Brent (Ricky Gervais) and Michael Scott (Steve Carell), and to a somewhat lesser degree, the characters on Seinfeld.

Like The Office (both the U.K. and U.S. versions) and Seinfeld, Louis C.K. has turned half-hour TV on its head with Louie. C.K. is making un-television that is both brilliant and unnerving.

You can watch the C.K./Cook episode and other full episodes of Louie here.
