Need Something To Do Tuesday?

Posted By on Tue, Aug 16, 2011 at 7:00 AM

Today marks the countdown to school starting. At this time next week, backpacks will be packed, lunches will be made, new outfits will be laid out and kids will be fighting bed time because they aren't used to having to turn in so early. Best to get as many fun-filled nights in as possible this week.

Both the Caldwell Night Rodeo and the Starlight Mountain Theatre offer kid-friendly entertainment to kick off the last week of summer vacation.

Tonight is the first performance of the annual rodeo in Caldwell—and it's family night. The junior rodeo starts at 6:45 p.m., with opening ceremonies starting at 7:45 p.m. Four children younger than 12 will get in free with every $15 admission for adults.

If the rodeo isn't your thing and you don't mind a bit of a drive, pop the kids into the car and the HSM (that's High School Musical to the uninitiated) soundtrack into the CD player and head to Garden Valley for Starlight Mountain Theatre's production of Disney's High School Musical. Starlight's stage is set on the banks of the Middlefork of the Payette River under the stars, so bring a warm jacket or blanket to bundle up in. Tickets range from $10 to $18. The show starts at 8 p.m.
