Need Something To Do Saturday?

Posted By on Sat, Oct 8, 2011 at 7:00 AM

Though people are dang near picking up pitchforks in the streets of New York and Justin Bieber is still making music, if there's a real threat we face as a species, it's robots. That's why we here at Need Something To Do Today take every opportunity we can to ensure you have the tools to survive the inevitable robot apocalypse.

Today's tip: know your opponent.

Athletes often watch footage of their opponents ahead of time so that they can become familiar with their moves and be better prepared when they face off against them.

Today, you can do just that with the Boise Bot Competition. Local robots and their handlers will be squaring off in a variety of competitions—including sumo wrestling—at the Discovery Center of Idaho. Event organizers even say they have a few tricks up their sleeves to make this year's competition the best one yet.

So go. Watch closely. Take notes. If you do, you might have a chance. Might.

The competition runs from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. today and normal admission to the Discovery Center applies: $6.50 for adults and $4 for kids.
