Thanks in large part to the rookie-of-the-year-style success of Youth Lagoon's debut album, The Year of Hibernation, Boise's music scene has come into the national spotlight with recent write-ups in Seattle Weekly, Stereogum and Nylon Magazine that highlighted local clubs and bands worth knowing.
But in a recently published interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Built to Spill guitarist Doug Martsch "spilled" the beans on what could be the biggest news yet for the Boise music scene: an all-Boise showcase at next year's SXSW music extravaganza in Austin.
From the article:
Though Built to Spill will soon get to work in earnest on the album, they plan on playing in front of more audiences in 2012. "I don't want to go out and headline a tour until we have a record out," says Martsch. "But we have plans to go to South by Southwest and to take part in a Boise showcase."
Boise Weekly contacted a local musician involved with the event, who prefers to remain unnamed at this time.
"As of now, it is very likely that there will be a Boise showcase at SXSW with BTS headlining," says our local Deep Throat. "Beyond that, no venue, date or other bands are confirmed."
Boise Weekly will keep you updated as more specific details develop.
