Need Something To Do Monday?

Posted By on Mon, Nov 14, 2011 at 10:50 AM

The Atlas moth is considered one of the largest moths in the world, based on wingspan and surface area. They're surprisingly pretty, not like those creepy moths that flock to the lightbulbs on your patio during the summer that you can't ever seem to get rid of. In fact, it's said that in Taiwan, the Atlas moth's cocoons have been used as purses.

The Atlas Moth that will be at the Shredder tonight has nothing to do with purses, but you can buy T-shirts with the Chicago metal band's logo at shopbenchmark.com. There may even be a few available to purchase at the show, which starts at 8 p.m. and costs $5.

The band is said to combine its bluesy hometown roots with New Orleans-style sludge, among other influences. According to its Facebook page, "If you grew up living in a swamp, wearing a Black Sabbath T-shirt, and eating nothing but fried chicken, this is your band." Even if you didn't, go experience something new and head to the Shredder anyway.
