The unseasonably warm weather has Boiseans struggling not to utter the "s word." This year will mark the latest opening in the 69-year history of local nonprofit mountain recreation area Bogus Basin. The S-N-O-W just ain't fallin'.
But Curtis Stigers, hometown hero and jazz legend, is stepping in to headline a community sponsored event to assuage some of that no-snow sadness. On Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 5-8 p.m., the Basque Block in downtown Boise will host Get Louder for Powder, an event all about our local ski hill.
Bogus employs more than 700 people when open, and gives back to the community in spades as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Hayden Beverage, Double R Ranch, Sysco Foods, Pepsi and Oroweat have all contributed to the event, with Stigers leading an evening of music, food and libations.
So, don your ski gear and bring your season pass: If you flash the plastic, you'll get beer and Bogus Burgers for $1 each.
