Boise-based music blog,, curated a showcase at the Linen Building on Friday, March 23, the second night of Treefort Music Fest.

Sacramento-based Sister Crayon started things off at 7 p.m. with a set of gloomy, electronically driven indie music. Lead singer Terra Lopez moved about the stage theatrically, emphasizing the different textures of her shadowy music with impassioned dance moves. Her range was impressive—especially when she’d move her mouth away from the mic and belt out verses at the top of her lungs. Comparisons to The xx kept coming to mind.

Next up, Ohio producers Monster Rally & RUMTUM started off the psych portion of the showcase with a set of tripped-out ambient music. The duo had an obvious penchant for island-flare, with lots of surf and reggae flavors incorporated into its sound templates. Behind the band, images of volcanoes and palm trees were projected onto a white backdrop.

Local act Mozam performed next, and delivered a great set. The duo added lots of extra layers and colors to its songs, working patiently to build each piece from the ground up into blissful electronic freak-outs.
