Boise Rock School opened in 2008 in a location off 12th and River streets. It has since grown and moved to 14th and Grove streets, which incidentally put the school right in the middle of all the Treefort happenings.

On March 24, BRS hosted a slew of visiting and local bands, as well as its student rock groups.

“We had 12 bands play our garage yesterday including bands from the rock school and artists from all over the country,” said Ryan Peck, one of the Boise Rock School’s owners. “After each band played I was like, 'This is my new favorite.'"

The school teaches kids how to play instruments and be in a band. Touring bands in town for Treefort seemed to understand what the school does for the Boise community.

“A highlight of the day was when the guys from Yeah Great Fine let the kids play the xylosynth,” added Peck.
