North Fork Championship 2012: Nobody Died But Everybody Killed It

Posted By on Tue, Jun 12, 2012 at 11:08 AM

The North Fork Championship took place on the Payette River along scenic Highway 55 near Banks June 8 and June 9. The whitewater kayaking race brought athletes from all over the world to paddle down some of the globe's most difficult rapids.

The video below includes footage from the second day’s race on Jacob’s Ladder, a Class V rapid.

Boise Weekly also talked with Pat Keller, a paddler from North Carolina who has a healthy respect for the dangers on the river. Watch as the kayakers competing in the event are swallowed up in huge waves of whitewater and reappear, paddling hard.
