While Idaho has remained a little out of the loop when it comes to zine culture, especially when compared to cities like San Francisco and Portland, Ore., today you can find out why they're rad.

Zines are small, self-published collections of words and images generally produced via photocopier. Think of them as pamphlets or personal magazines.

Though the proliferation of zines may have faded with the rise of electronic culture, certain groups are keeping the tradition alive. Zine World bills itself as "a reader's guide to the underground press," and provides reviews about zines and other self-published works.

Want to know more about zines? Head to Urban Outfitters today for a zine-making workshop. From 3-5 p.m., you can write/cut/draw/create and let the creativity flow forth from your skull. The workshop is part of Rookie Mag's road trip across the country. Check out more info here.
