Most cultures offer some form of dumpling—dough stuffed with any number of ingredients that is steamed or fried. From gyoza to empanadas to samosas, the dumpling is a many-splendored thing.
Today, you can sample the Nepalese version of the dumpling at the grand opening of Momo Dumplings at 3223 E. Louise Drive in Meridian. Meridian Mayor Tammy de Weerd will cut the store's ribbon between 11:15-11:30 a.m. and the store will sling "food of the Himalayas" from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
According to Momo's Facebook page, "If you make it between 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., we will take 50 percent off from your entire bill. Business will be open right after the ceremony."
And speaking of deals, Momo Dumplings also launched a special on Friday with Living Social: two combo bowls and two sodas for $8.
