Need Something To Do Wednesday?

Posted By on Wed, Aug 8, 2012 at 6:00 AM

You need not journey to Route 66 to get your kix today—and no, we're not talking about the "kid-tested, mother-approved" puff-grain cereal. Kix Brooks, known to most as half of the dynamic country music duo Brooks and Dunn, will play the Knitting Factory tonight.

Brooks had small success as a solo artist before joining Ronnie Dunn and becoming a powerful force in the country music scene throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. The duo split in 2010, and Brooks released his solo album, New To This Town, in September of this year. The title track features Joe Walsh, who coincidentally will play the new Revolution Concert House Wednesday, Aug. 22.

The country crooner will grace the stage following local 17-year-old Nampa pop country songstress MacKayla Hunter, who, according to her biography on her website, wrote her first song at the age of 12 and pens lyrics that are "simply what I’m writing in my journal."

The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets range from $12-$45. Visit the Knitting Factory's website for tickets and more info.
