There are a number of reasons to make the roughly two-hour jaunt to McCall—beautiful scenery, time on the ski hill, a riotous Fourth of July celebration—and today you can go in search of artisan goods.
The 22nd annual Payette Lakes Fine Arts and Crafts Faire kicked off Saturday, Aug. 18, and will continue today from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Fairway Park, between Aspen Market and the golf course.
Load up in a car with lots of extra space for the treasures you discover and take a scenic drive, then peruse the wares of more than 75 artists and crafters from across the West. Meet the people behind the art and cruise the selection of goodies, including log and wood furniture, hammocks, oil paintings, jewelry and the like.
The arts-and-craft-fair staples of food purveyors and live entertainment will be had as well, because how could you possibly expect to buy new stuff for your walls without something to nosh on and listen to? This year's festival features Matt Roos and the Basement Band.
