Need Something To Do Monday?

The time is upon many among us to hike out into the woods and haul a Christmas tree back to base camp. Holiday traditions are important enough that they can make even miserable outings cheery. The thing is, in Idaho, you can't get a wild tree without getting a permit.

The National Forest Service is there to help people looking for Christmas trees to get them in the most environmentally friendly way. Tree permits go on sale today at several locations, including the Interagency Visitor Information Center at 1387 S. Vinnell Way in Boise.

Permits cost $10 and come with detailed information about where trees can be harvested.
