Need Something To Do Saturday?

Saturdays are often reserved for day drinking—a term normally associated with tailgate parties, football and barbecue. In fact, the time-honored ritual of getting sauced early on the weekend dates back to the invention of the day off.

But there's more to day drinking than getting tipsy. For those with more refined palates, there's the Fraser Vineyard Barrel Tasting, taking place at Fraser Vineyard, located at 1004 LaPointe St. in Boise, from noon-5 p.m.

There, you'll start out with something sparkling followed by the vineyard's most recent releases: the 2009 cabernet sauvignon, the 2010 Couloir Cuvee and a barrel sample of the latest varietal. These wines are paired with goodies from The Chocolat Bar and Zeppole breads, as well as cheeses and fruits. The cost is $5 for the tasting and an additional $5 for each glass.
