Rather than telling a story, modern dance is the kinetic equivalent of jazz, where it's the moves that aren't made, the timing of motion and the soul of the dancer that add up to a cascade of feelings and impressions.
Thankfully, you don't have to take our word for it. At 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. today, Balance Dance Company is holding The Balance Generation, its annual Works-In-Progress performance, at the Danny Peterson Theatre in the Morrison Center.
Besides the work of Director Leah Clark, there will be original choreography by Balance alumni Amanda Micheletty, Elizabeth McSurdy, Graci Meier, Gracie Whyte, Johanna Kirk and Lauren Chertudi. Afterwards, the audience can meet with the choreographers, dancers and young artists.
Tickets are $10 for adults or $5 for students and available by calling 208-331-9224, ext. 205.
