Preservation Idaho Calls for Nominations for Orchids and Onions Awards

Posted By on Wed, Jan 23, 2013 at 10:51 AM

Owners of the Boise City National Bank Building received an Orchid award in 2011.

Each year, Preservation Idaho hosts the Orchids and Onions Awards to celebrate historic preservation, doling out Orchid Awards to projects that protect remnants of the past, and Onions to those that don't.

Ahead of the 36th annual awards, the Idaho Historic Preservation Council is soliciting nominations for both Onions and Orchids, to be awarded during a Saturday, May 18, ceremony at Trinity United Methodist Church in Idaho Falls.

Past Boise Orchid winners include the Gem Noble Building and the 805 Idaho Building—while the Boise Independent School District received an Onion for the demolition of South Junior High.

A full list of categories and nomination forms can be found at the organization's website, preservationidaho.org.
