Art By the Square Foot Opens Today at Green Chutes

The Green Chutes artist cooperative, located at 4716 W. State St., is hosting a new group exhibit that opens today, titled Art by The Square Foot.

“We wanted to keep with the momentum and enthusiasm from the holidays,” said Joneen Chapman, Green Chutes operations manager.

Green Chutes artists have each created a piece of artwork on a 12-inch by 12-inch canvas. The work takes many forms—including painting, photography, fabric and sculpture—and will be arranged in a grid-like display, primarily to show how each individual “thinks outside the box."

Though this year’s show is made up entirely of Green Chutes members, the ultimate goal is to open the show up to regional artists next year.

The public can vote for their three favorite canvases, and a number of the pieces will be available for sale at Green Chutes.

The exhibition opens today, Wednesday, Feb. 13, and runs through Thursday, Feb. 28, with an artist’s reception Friday, March 1 from 5-7 p.m.
