China Blue Crowd Lucks out with High on Life DJs

A newly built, Rasta-colored stage set the perfect tone for a crowd high on life Friday night. China Blue’s High On Life event brought roller coaster sets from all three DJs: DJ Koitz, Lucky Date and Aaron Liven.

Inspired by the energy of the room, DJ Koitz warmed up the crowd at 10 p.m.

What felt like a large house party jumped to remixed favorites like "Clarity" by Zedd, "Sweet Nothing" by Calvin Harris and "Save the World Tonight" by Swedish House Mafia. Playing over an almost completely different track, the crowd still belted lyrics. Lucky Date also played "Shotgun" by Zedd and "Where’s Your Head At" by Basement Jax.

Lucky Date was just as entertained as the crowd on the dance floor, repeatedly taking pictures with fans, many of whom were decked out in LED gloves and LED hula hoops. Smoke combined with a variety of lights to create swirling visuals above the dancing mass.

Turning to his progressive house tracks, Lucky Date built up a jumping, hand-waving crowd that ranged from ravers in promiscuous outfits to Ed Hardey bro’s. Go-go dancers from Celestial Dance did their thing next to a fabric wrapped frame.

Aaron Liven ended the night by throwing down an energetic set that bumped people back on the dance floor. The hour was late, though, so a smaller crowd enjoyed his close-out session.
