What does it mean to be a Latino in Idaho? As the number of Latino and Hispanic residents in the Treasure Valley grows, so does the need to emphasize bilingual education and community outreach, and understand the trials and tribulations facing this growing demographic.

The Bilingual Education and Communication departments at Boise State University have created a documentary, Latino Community in Treasure Valley, Idaho, which examines the issues facing a new generation of Latinos head-on. The 50-minute film, created by Boise State students, took Boise State students across southwestern Idaho to "give voice to those who helped build this community," said Department of Bilingual Education chair Claudia Peralta in a press release.

Admission to the film, which premiers at 5:45 p.m. at the Washington Group Plaza Auditorium this evening, is free.
