The Vanilla Gigolo Prescription is a novel with a title that sounds like Jason Bourne slash fiction. And the book's plot gives the title a run for its money.

The book's lead character is Sean Harrigan, a Hollywood writer trapped between two dead-end relationships—one with his girlfriend, the other with his improv troupe, The Vanilla Gigolo Prescription. When one-time troupe-mate and film star Finn Brooks calls upon Harrigan for help dealing with a blackmailer, Harrigan gets in over his head and confronts a familiar problem: How much do you help someone who has hurt you before?

The novel's author, Los Angeles' William Norrett, will be at Rediscovered Bookshop today starting at 6:30 p.m. to read from the novel, answer questions and sign copies of the book.
