To celebrate Idaho's territorial sesquicentennial, communities are offering events of all kinds to commemorate what makes the state unique.

Today starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Victory Branch of the Ada Community Library, Marc Munch of the Idaho Transportation Department will give a free talk titled "Historical Archaeology: The Sandpoint Dig and the Cost of Preserving Idaho’s History."

The talk will touch on how the community of Sandpoint pivoted from a stop on the Northern Pacific Railroad to a settled town, how the original location of Sandpoint is being recovered and preserved, and what that means for Idaho's identity.
