Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and there are several events to commemorate human and civil rights occurring in the valley. One such event takes place on the second floor of the Capitol Rotunda.

Jill Gish, professor of history at Boise State University, along with Lt. Gov. Brad Little will be on hand to celebrate how far we've come and discuss how to work toward progress in the future. The event features performances by Boise State University students, the Common Ground Community Chorus, the Mountain Home Air Force Base Color Guard and more.

Noon. FREE. Idaho State Capitol Building, 700 W. Jefferson St., Boise, 208-334-2475.
