If you were anywhere near ESPN, the Internet or sports radio July 8, you heard something about the humiliating 1-7 defeat of Brazil at the hands (or, rather, feet) of Germany. The match was so lopsided that at halftime, the German team made a pact not to humiliate FIFA World Cup host country Brazil too badly, though by the end of the game, some fans would have preferred a binding U.N. resolution to keep German shots on goal out of the net.

Brazil has a chance today to redeem itself against the Netherlands, which has won five of its six matches, losing only to Argentina 2-4 July 9. Brazil's record in this World Cup has been spottier, with four wins, a tie and, of course, its loss to Germany.

Brazil-Netherlands begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, and plays on ESPN.
