really amazing time in Boston the last couple of days. stayed with our friend Kevin in the historic North End and spent a bunch of time on his roof checking out the skyline, the surrounding old buildings (including the infamous Old North Church), the harbor and just general fascination with the city layout and the history behind it. very cool by day and night. really love Boston. surprisingly super quiet in his neighborhood at night. crazy old narrow streets.

show was Wednesday night just south of Boston proper in Jamiaca Plain — pretty infamous party of Boston and we played a JP's best music dive — Midway Cafe. local acoustic army The Thin Heir had invited us on to the bill for the evening thanks to our mutual friends in local band The Points North — who we're excited to play with on Sunday in Montpelier, VT!!! ended up being a very wild show with last minute random addition to the show Bill's Kitchen kicking the night off with a series of classic rock covers altered to be Jesus covers. it was a fascinating juxtaposition. they were all really nice and even brought a fake campfire to put on the front of the stage, which made us all feel that much more at home.

the owner of Midway is one strange beast — a very enthusiastic and loud Bostonian bar owner who was very much a part of the entertainment for the evening. at points jumping around in a weird alien costume. at other times just being rowdy and firing up the crowd. right after our set he attributed the Boston Bruins overtime win and the Red Sox win that night to us... very boisterously from stage. and then threw in a bunch of potato jokes for good measure. it was awesome. and hilarious. really really fun show. got to see some old friends from tours past as well. loved all the locals that played (also Crystal Joy and Stars Regardless). and The Thin Heir were a perfect sans electricity end to the evening. all 8 of them.

spent the rest of the night on Kevin's roof and then woke up to great coffee and more roof time before jumping in the van and cruising the tiny streets of the North End for about 45 minutes half looking for a parking space half just enjoying the cruise through old town. we had been telling Kevin about our affinity for bocce ball and about the all-terrain bocce we play... so he took us to some legitimate bocce courts (a first for us) and we rolled some bocce for about an hour before hitting the road. some old Italian guys were chillin on the benches cheering the better shots. exactly as it should be i suppose. one of them had the cutest little dog. it should also be noted that after coercing Lisa in to playing with us, she crushed us boys pretty handily.
