Set atop a curved ridge in the award-winning Hidden Springs planned community, this spacious home features high-end finishes, an open floor plan and views of the surrounding foothills. Architect David Waldron blended traditional elements with contemporary features and tied it all together with a Northwest aesthetic. As you approach the house from the street, water gently burbles from a squatting hunk of water-worn rock centered in the paved courtyard, which separates a pair of two-car garages. The garage on the west side of the house leads to the kitchen, where the new owner can unload groceries and school backpacks, and the east garage opens into the master suite to facilitate unloading of dry cleaning or the loading of luggage into vehicles before stepping away for a business trip or vacation.

As you enter the home, the foyer opens into a living room with white oak floors that flow into the open kitchen and around to the formal dining room. With the exception of the terra cotta-colored dining room, the three-story home has a clean palette of pale tan walls and rich mahogany trim and cabinetry crafted from Brazilian Lyptus wood. The living room features a stucco fireplace with a tapered chimney enclosure that reaches the 26-foot vaulted ceiling. The fireplace hearth is a solid slab of honed black granite. The room is dominated by a tall bank of windows and a single French door that opens to the back patio, where there are views of the Foothills and neighboring backyards.

West of the living area is the kitchen, where the major appliances are either camouflaged to blend in with the rich brown cabinetry or are tucked inconspicuously behind one of the two large prep islands. A Viking gas stove is graced with a custom Pratt and Larson tile backsplash that has a random picture frame design punctuated with offset circles. These are clues to a geometric motif of squares, rectangles and circles that is repeated in several design elements throughout the home.

North of the kitchen is a huge walk-in pantry, and a butler's pantry with a bar sink, wine rack and two refrigerated drawers. A spacious "mail room" with two built-in computer stations, file cabinets and mail cubbies serves as the perfect place to drop car keys, briefcases, backpacks and mail. Continuing north, you pass through a spacious laundry room before entering the west garage. Circling back toward the living room, you pass through the formal dining room.

On the east side of the foyer is the stairway to the second floor. Past the stairs and to the left is the master suite, which features a fireplace, a built-in armoire and a single French door that leads to the back patio. The master bathroom has a multiple head-style shower and a mirrored vanity with wall-mounted faucets that pour into two shallow, rectangular sinks.

Upstairs there is a bonus room with a balcony overlooking the courtyard, and two bedroom suites on opposite sides of the house that are mirror images of each other. Both suites have full baths that feature dual vanities with shallow, rectangular sinks and wall-mounted faucets. Above the faucets is a long ledge about 7 inches deep for storing toiletries.

Pros: There are more high-quality finishes and unique modern amenities than I can list here. The basement has a utility/sewing/workout room, and a theater room with movie screen and space for billiards. The mail room is a brilliant feature, keeping clutter confined. There are sweeping Foothills views from nearly every room.

Cons: Keep your cats indoors; native coyotes snack on strays. The views will change when homes are built across the street and on both sides of the home.
