3140 El Rio Dr. 

Just off of Victory Road between Eagle and Cloverdale roads lies sprawling El Rio Drive, where the houses are one-story ramblers and the lots are acreages. This ranch home fits right in. It is sided in gray-green with red brick accents and has a cedar shake roof. The house is situated in the center of the lot, with a horse arena to the left and a driveway serving a garage with six bays. To the right is a park-like shaded front lawn with stately willow trees. Visitors enter the front door into a formal entry, which is big, bright and has stone flooring that leads to a living room featuring a brick fireplace and three very large windows shaded by evergreens.

A door off the entry leads to a windowless office, which in turn leads to an enormous master suite. The bedroom features a bay of four floor-to-ceiling windows, two of which are sliders leading to the backyard. The suite is vaulted with two skylights in the bathroom, as well as a jetted tub, a shower, a sauna, tan ceramic countertops and two walk-in closets. Another door off the main entryway leads to another large bedroom with an adjoining bathroom featuring a marble walk-in shower.

A corridor from the entryway leads to a large formal dining room. Through sliding glass doors, this room has a spectacular view of the patio and swimming pool in the backyard. A gold chandelier hangs over the dining room table, and the room is large enough to easily accommodate an extended family for holiday meals. In the kitchen, the counters are ceramic tile and a bay window over the sink lets in light from outside. (I would grow herbs in that window.) The kitchen's island has a butcher block, an eating area, more cabinets and a built-in desk, all of which help complete the room.

Beyond the kitchen is the family room with another brick fireplace, a wet bar and a wine rack. A bay window looks out to the pool. At the front and side of the house are three more bedrooms and one bathroom. Beyond that is a utility room leading to a big mud/bonus room, which is partially carpeted and partly floored in vinyl. Off of the bonus room lies the 3,200 sq. ft. garage. One bay is big enough for an RV and the other five could accommodate anything from cars and trucks to boats, horse trailers, exercise equipment and more. The garage even has an overhead door out to the back for loading horses. The garage is insulated, taped and textured and has epoxy-painted floor, 14-foot ceilings and a 200 amp. electric panel. It has a welder receptacle, is piped for compressed air with three connections and is plumbed for gas and electricity for a heater.

Leaving the garage through one of doors, I stepped into the setup for three horses. There are two pastures and two arenas. One arena is covered in no-dust sand and there are three shaded stalls. The entire property is fully fenced in white vinyl three-rail fencing.

From the stall area, I walked to my favorite part of the property: the heated 17- by 40-foot blue pool surrounded by a brown, stamped concrete patio. Near the pool area are two dressing rooms with showers and a bathroom. Beyond the pool is a gazebo, which has been supplemented with more decking, and is equipped with a ceiling fan, gas for the barbecue and a telephone line. The backyard is surrounded by evergreens and is attractively landscaped. This property has access to irrigation water with an approximate yearly bill of $125. A well on the property provides water for the home.

PROS: What a great place for someone who wants a house with big rooms and lots of luxuries! Everything is ready for horses and for someone who can fill and utilize the garage/shop.

CONS: It's hard to imagine a negative for paradise. That said, the property borders Victory Road, but an acre-plus pasture on that side of the property and plenty of trees buffer the house.
