Demonstrators are expected at the Statehouse on Monday, March 14, where they'll urge lawmakers to unshackle the Gem State's $7.25 per hour minimum wage from the federal level, but lawmakers have passed House Bill 463, which preempts cities and counties from setting their own minimum wage levels. HB 463 now awaits a signature from Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter.

Christopher Wirfs, 35, of Boise, has been arrested in connection with the crime, booked on felony charges of aggravated battery and felon in possession of a firearm. Police indicated they may press further charges.
