School officials say they decided that the flag be removed from school property after they consulted idahogangs.com, a site managed by the Idaho Department of Correction. The website—though currently down—reportedly includes the Confederate battle flag as a gang indicator.
"Currently no statute exists that addresses the collection and testing of sexual assault kits in Idaho. This will codify that process. This also addresses the issue of backlogs of rape kits and sends a clear message that the crime of sexual assault is taken seriously."
Officials with the Northwest Children's Home, headquartered in Lewiston, said it cost too much money to keep their Nampa doors open, telling the Idaho Press-Tribune earlier this month that the operation "struggled financially" and that the Board of Directors elected to close the Syringa House program by year-end.
“Staff heard the slap and observed Ms. Carriere leave the room. Staff began to observe that [the child] was acting strange and guarding his face where he was slapped. Staff observed a red mark on [the child’s] face and took photographs of his face. [The child’s] face was red and had the imprint of a hand from the slap.”
