The Bonner County Daily Bee reports James Mancuso and Ashley Ford were spotted by Idaho State Police during a March 23 traffic stop in the Ponderay-Kootenai area north of Sandpoint, but the suspects fled the scene.
"What matters is the policy itself needs to be changed because it's ridiculous. My daughter would have actually gone to Lake City High School. My daughter is part of the anime club at Lake City and goes there every week."
Patti MacDonald's defense attorney argued that his client was showing "a great deal of empathy" in her effort to save the duck from the falcon. The attorney added that considerable media coverage of the event has caused his client to be targed with threats and harassment.

In 2010, a hiker died in a goring incident at the Olympia National Park in Washington State.
