According to the Times-News, court documents indicate a coat hanger had been used in the alleged assault. One of the three teens is scheduled to be arraigned in Lincoln County Court on Friday, March 18, but the files on the teens have been sealed.
The family of the alleged victim has brought a civil lawsuit seeking $10 million in damages against the school district, the district superintendent, five school board members, the principal of Dietrich High School and four football coaches.
"The only person responsible for sexual misconduct is the perpetrator. It is a violation of University policy to engage in sexual activities without affirmative consent (clear words or actions indicating a desire to engage in the specific sexual contact) from the other person."
The arrest came after election auditors in Nez Perce County and Asotin County in Washington discovered Christopher Billups, 62, of Lapwai, appeared to have voted at a polling site on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation after already mailing in a ballot to Washington.
"If I were to ask every employer in this room, 'Do you have a "Help Wanted" sign out?' I'd probably see a lot of hands go up. I can't even drive through Star and not see 'Help Wanted' signs. It's not for lack of jobs, it's about finding qualified labor."
