      It looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out the fate of Sen. Larry Craig’s political future.

      A Minnesota judged continued a hearing as to whether Craig can withdraw his guilt plea until at least next week, stating that he is taking the matter under advisement.

      It’s another disappointment for Sen. Larry Craig.

      The Senate Ethics Committee rejected a request to stop the investigation into an ethics complaint filed against the senator in the wake of his June arrest for lewd conduct, and subsequent guilty plea, at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

  • Bye-Bye Larry

      It’s official. Senator Larry Craig will step down effective Sept. 30.

      Craig made the announcement this morning during a nationally televised news conference staged at the Boise Train Depot.

      “To pursue my legal options as I continue to serve Idaho would be an unwanted and unfair distraction of my job and for my senate colleagues,” Craig said. These are serious times of war and of conflict. Times that deserve the senates and the full nation’s attention.

      “Therefor it is with sadness and with deep regret that I announce that it is my intent to resign from the senate effective Sept. 30.”

  • Risch Speculations Too Early

      No one is naming names in the governor’s office.

      Jon Hanian, press secretary for Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter, said the governor has not selected a possible replacement for embattled Senator Larry Craig, despite rampant speculation in the national media.

      “We’ve made no decisions and made no promises,” Hanian said.

  • Craig Says He Will Stay

      In a public statement issued this afternoon, U.S. Sen. Larry Craig vowed to stay in office, but says he has retained legal counsel regarding his June arrest. Responding to the Idaho Statesman’s story published on the front page this morning, Sen. Craig called the story a witch hunt, and repeatedly denied that he is gay.
