Following two nights of testimony, ACHD commissioners voted 4-to-1 June 23 to close Jefferson between First Street and Avenue B, expected to occur within the next two years. ACHD Commissioner Jim Hansen was the lone "no" vote.
For the Broadway/Warm Springs intersection, Boise city staff wants to see more access to properties along the street from the proposed median, U-turn options at intersections with signals, U-turn options at mid-block and an expansion of the road to include more "pockets" for left turns.
ACHD is scheduled to make another public presentation on the options, this time in front of the Boise City Council on Tuesday, April 26. A final recommendation is expected to be presented before the ACHD board of commissioner on May 25.
As a result of the settlement, Idaho AG Lawrence Wasden said he was closing his investigation, adding, "It's always a good day in my book when opposing sides can solve complex problems without having to litigate in court."
