A statement from the victim was read at Monday's hearing, indicating she's still in fear of Vierstra and suffers from post-traumatic stress. The victim's father also told the court Monday that he had additional concerns that Vierstra could be a repeat offender.
Jesse Vierstra was 20 years old in June 2013 when he was sentenced to a minimum of five years in prison with no possibility of parole and a maximum of 15 years behind bars for the sexual assault of a U of I student during the university's 2012 homecoming weekend.
The disadvantages are huge. It's estimated that the University of Idaho could lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue, usually divided by the Sun Belt Conference in bowl and playoff money generated by television contracts.

The U of I is slated to open its new Idaho Law and Justice Learning Center later this month in the former home of the old Ada County Courthouse across from the Idaho Statehouse. And with that, university officials are poised to offer a full option of beginning and completing a law degree at a public university in the Treasure Valley.
Several pieces of the plaza are still being prepped for full operation, however, including the Main Street Station multi-modal transit center, which is set to begin bus service the morning of Monday, Oct. 24.
The motive was unclear and a description of the suspect had not been released as of sunrise on Friday. However, police said if anyone had information regarding the shooting incident, they're urged to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
