Re: “BBQ4LIFE (formerly MFT BBQ)

Delicious ribs, smoky and lightly sauced. Wife absolutely loves the tri-tip, pulled pork is another fave. Try this place, you will likely abandon the others.

Re: “MickeyRay's Roadhouse Barbecue

Took my wife there on Mother's Day. Big mistake. After we both ordered ribs, the waitress returned to tell us they were out of ribs and it would be a few hours. Impressive for a BBQ joint. I ordered the breaded pork tenderloin. It was not breaded and tasted mostly burned. My sons ordered the kids riblet, which was just a bone with some sauce on it...literally nothing to eat off of it. They ended up eating the rest of my burned sandwich. The best thing I had was a coke, which was cold and tasty. Their parking lot is almost always empty, even during meal hours. This should be your first clue that this is not a good restaurant. Go to GoodWood instead.

Re: “MickeyRay's Roadhouse Barbecue

Great atmosphere, the only true southern BBQ in the Boise area. Mickey and I have frequently many of the same BBQ restaurants in Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina so I know he knows his stuff. Better BBQ than any chain restaurant could ever hope to take out of a smoker. Love those hushpuppies!

Re: “Big K BBQ

In response to "Mrs. Miller's" comment regarding Steve Kubinski, Owner of Big K BBQ, I will diligently defend Steve's integrity. My name is Adam Miller and I am the Managing Member of Idaho PC Services, LLC at www.IdahoPCServices.com. The information I have provided is for verification that I am who I say I am and how willingly I am to put my own reputation on the line for Steve and Sue.

As Big K BBQ's former dishwasher turned cook for the better part of this year, I can say with the utmost confidence that any blatant attack on Steve and Sue's integrity and business practices are without a doubt the most baseless accusations imaginable. Steve and Sue ALWAYS go out of their way for their customers, even when the customer is outright WRONG. In your situation, "Mrs. Miller", it sounds as though you had already confirmed your catering order, obviously you do not know what a confirmation is so let me help you out. Confirming lets the business owners know that you are in fact ready to go ahead with said order, that means food gets purchased, man hours are dedicated and everything gets set in stone. With catering jobs, I know there are contractual obligations and it sound as though after confirming, you violated the contract you had with Big K BBQ.

Now, I do not wish to continue pointing out your ignorance when it comes to business dealings so I will end on this note. Going on the internet to attack two people who I can honestly say are the nicest, most honest and hardworking people I have ever known in Boise, who run a business that has always treated its customers and employees (I was an employee) with complete respect is plain wrong. Also, if you are going to try and bash people on the internet, you need to at least have the courage to use your real name.

I was not paid to write this response, asked to write this response, nothing. Steve and Sue are my former employers, I consider them good friends and Big K BBQ is an outstanding restaurant. The "bad" review above me has no merit and the person who wrote it needs to be called out for what she really is, a flat out liar!

Re: “Big K BBQ

I have eaten at Big K BBQ numerous times. It is actually probably my favorite "non-chain" BBQ restaurant there is. Big K is always making sure customers come first. Every time I eat there, the food is always freshly cooked. Big K uses original recipes and his staff is very friendly and they actually get to know you. I eat at Big K at least once a week, just because of the great food and service.
To the person who called Steve a robber, there is more than what this person is actually telling you. Steve is far from being a robber. Big K is one who will fix something if he knows what is wrong. I have personally see Steve go above and beyond on numerous occasions. PLEASE go eat at Big K and see for yourself. Tell Steve that Anthony sent you
Oh. And the SMOTATOES are probably my favorite side on the whole menu

Re: “Big K BBQ

I have ate at Big K BBQ and can say it is one of the best mom and pop BBQ places you will eat at. They put customers first and I have brought my whole family in numerous times and had great service and awesome tasting food every time. Steve puts his knowledge and skill to work everyday so you always have fresh cooked food served to you and not frozen meat thawed out . I am a over the road truck driver and have them cook me up food for me to take with in the truck with a more then fair price. Every time I come back tom Boise, Big K is the first place I will go to eat. As far as the last post well I can guarantee you there is more to that story then what they are telling you cause Steve is the furthest thing from a robber you will ever find. But you know the saying, You can hang somebody with a new gold rope and they will find something wrong with it. GO TO BIG K BBQ. If your not happy and don't say anything then how is a person suppose to fix something if they don't know its broke. Steve will go out of his way to accommodate you so you are happy when you leave.

Re: “Wild Bill's Barbeque

This place is not the best place for BBQ, the reviews above must be employees or being paid. I ate there twice just to give them the benefit of doubt and both times I was disappointed, The ribs were cold, dry and I had to drench them in sauce just to make them edible. I ordered a BBQ Chicken sandwich the 2nd time. They served it on a cold bun, not even toasted with nothing else. No tomato's, lettuce, or pickles. Once again, had to drench this in sauce to make it edible. The Macaroni and Cheese was bland and tasted like they just used Velveeta and onions. I hate to leave a negative comment, but I hope this will help them better there product. They should go and taste test Mickey Rays, Famous Daves, shoot even the McRib Sandwich at McDonalds is more well thought out then here.

Re: “Goodwood Barbecue Company

Took my mother to dinner for her birthday. The eagle road location always has incredible food and atmosphere. We were seated as soon as we walked in. (5 adults in our party) and have never had to wait more than 3 min for a table. The prices cannot be beat. 5.50 for a top shelf whiskey is not a bad price at all. most dinner items were 11.00. (burgers and pulled pork) The chicken fried steak is HUGE and the best I've tasted in Idaho. I have been to the two treasure valley locations many times and they never disappoint. Thank you for a great place to go and eat.

Re: “Big K BBQ

I and my wife decided to try Big K today and we were really supposed at the taste and quality of the food.Although we tried the 'sampler' I feel the best was the ribs. The side called "smotatoes" were another pleasant surprise! We will definitely return and look forward to once again being served by Tina.

Re: “Goodwood Barbecue Company-Meridian

New to Meridian - I had folks recommending Goodwood BBQ but I have to be honest and say that I was not impressed by the food here at the Meridian restaurant. Not a big fan of overly peppered BBQ. The biggest disappointment was the ribs. In general, this is what I expect .... good sized portions, good caramelized outer meat but not burned, slow cooked so that the meat is not tough and grisly and plenty of BBQ sauce. This was far from the case when I tried this place. The ribs were coated in pepper, there was little to no caramelized meat, and they were mushy like they had been sitting in a vat for who knows how many hours before I got them. Needless to say, I don't plan on making this place one of my regular eating places.

I heard the one by the Edwards theater is the one to go to if you want good BBQ. Haven't been there yet, but from eating at the Meridian restaurant, I am sort of skeptical. A friend of mine said that if I got a crappy meal from the main store, I should ask for the manager ... he is the guy that owns the chain.

Re: “Wild Bill's Barbeque

The food was overpriced for the quality. They were out of or did not make many of the side items on their menu, so we were only able to choose from a salad, fries, or onion rings. Their reasoning for this was that they did not want prepare food that would go to waste. They claimed that the other side items were not popular and they did not receive requests for them. I would not return there based on my dinning experience.

Re: “Bob's Texas Style BBQ

Best ever. While planning a surprise party for my dad’s 65th birthday, we decided to do BBQ. I searched the internet and found a couple of places. I decided to give Bob’s a try on my way home from work one afternoon. The food was delicious and not terribly priced. We shopped around and found that Bob’s had the best variety with the best price. Ordered the food about two weeks in advance. Well as party’s go we ended up with more people. I called to add a little on short notice (the day before), and the person who answered the phone knew my order and was happy to add some additional. The BBQ was to be the main part of the party. When we arrived to pick up the food, it was steaming hot and ready. Not only is the food excellent here, but the service far exceed my expectations. Thank you for giving me one less thing to stress about before the party.

Re: “MickeyRay's Roadhouse Barbecue

Mickey has provided a warm welcoming atmosphere that has yet to fail to treat me with the Southern BBQ, I expect. Very clean and very reasonably priced! FYI, if you ask for your meat to be served very lean they give you the cuts with less fat. For those of you watching your heart and waistline...the cucumber salad is awesome. I also highly recommend the fried pickles.

Re: “Texas Roadhouse

Do you like rare steak? I mean really rare, as described in the TR menu as "cool red center"? You can still have it your way at Texas Roadhouse.
I had a previous poor experience with the chain, but my wife had never been and wanted to try it. We went on a busy Saturday, and opted to sit in the bar, rather than wait. The service in the bar was spot on, friendly and attentive.
We had the "baby blossom" onion starter that was just right, not too big, and not too spicy. My wife enjoyed the roasted chicken. The mashed potatoes were bland, but typical chain style. The gravy could have come right out of a can.
My New York strip was as good a restaurant steak as I have had in years. I added the sauteed
mushroom option, which was a very good choice. The mushrooms and the saute juice complemented the rare beef perfectly. We shared my run of the mill Caesar salad. We are fussy about that salad because my wife has perfected a "prefect for us" version that is hard to beat. The steak fries were steaming hot, crispy, and delicious.
Prices are reasonable at Texas Roadhouse and you come away with a feeling of satisfaction that you have been well served.
We will be back soon.

Re: “Wild Bill's Barbeque

This place is fantastic! The ribs are meaty and delicious, and the platters are big enough to share between two people. They also have a fun assortment of barbecue sauces to play with, which is half the fun of eating barbecue in my opinion.
