Re: “Spice Indian Cuisine

I've traveled around the world. This is authentic Indian. The buffet is mild for Idaho taste buds. Delicious! Super great deal!

Re: “Taj Mahal Restaurant

Been there twice. Both times the food was good, but the service was terrible. I don't mind waiting for good, well prepared food when you have an attentive wait staff and good service. However both times the wait staff seemed to forget we existed. We had to track them down for another drink or more water. The first time we went we had to get our food to-go because we were attending a show and running late. And we were at the restaurant 3 hours early. The second time we were in the restaurant for 3 hours and dealing with terrible service. Good enough food, but for us not worth the time and bad service.

Re: “Madhuban

When I eat at places like Madhuban Authentic Indian Cuisine I become extremely confused when I hear people tell me that they don’t like Indian food. What the hell is wrong with you people? You must just not know what to order. I once ate an Indian curry while in Malaysia that completely shut all of my mental capacities down from its amazing deliciousness. Madhuban isn’t quite that good, but it is good enough to make me swear when eating it, and I can’t come up with a higher compliment than that. So for all you Indian food haters out there, get over yourself, go to Madhuban, and eat the following: (continued at http://thebaldgourmet.com/review-madhuban-… )

Re: “Taj Mahal Restaurant

We arrived at 730 and waited in line behind two other couples. We were seated within 15 minutes at a table for 6. They thought about moving us to another table with another couple before moving us to our own table. We ordered an appetizer 30 min later when our order was taken. Around 850 I told my wife we should just leave, our movie started at 9 and I already bought tickets ($25). Respectfully we stayed the duration. Food finally arrived at 930. I agree with the 'one cook' idea, DON'T BE IN A HURRY. IN FACT, DON'T MAKE ANY PLANS TOMORROW. We finally left at 1030 with full bellies, empty wallets, and some left overs. Total bill was ( for two w/o drinks.) $55 for food, $25 for movie I didn't get to see, $5 parking for three hours. =$85 for dinner.

Re: “Taj Mahal Restaurant

Had a very disappointing experience tonight. I am not usually one to complain and I like to support family establishments, but this was a little too disappointing. Upon arriving, we waited while the staff "argued" in front of us about where to seat us. We then waited 20 minutes for our server to take our order and bring water and drinks. About 45 minutes after placing the order, our server told us that the computer had "kicked our order out" of the computer system and he would need to re-take our order because he had forgotten it. He re-took our order and our appetizer arrived about 30 minutes later, cold in the middle. Our entrees arrived about 30 minutes later and 2 of the entrees were wrong, so we waited another 15 minutes for them to re-make the entrees. Meanwhile, tables around us who had been seated after us, had eaten and already left. The server apologized but did not offer any compensation for our wasted evening. On a positive note, the food (aside from the cold appetizer) was extremely delicious!

Re: “Taj Mahal Restaurant

I went to the restaurant one day after reading many good reviews about it on different websites. As expected, the experience was great. First the owner is very professional, courteous and has a great sense of humor. The food is exquisite and very flavorful. I specially love the Achari, Karahi curries. You can get them in any meat. There is another great dish called Mughlai (it is a yellow colored curry) and it is the king of all the dishes. The order comes with plenty of rice. Price is little on the high end but you do get your money's worth. I tried dining at other Indian restaurants in Boise, but none of them can be classified in the same league. Madhubhan and Bombay grille have curries that don't taste well. They are too expensive for the lack of flavor. I accompanied my friend and he loved the huge selection of beer.

Re: “Taj Mahal Restaurant

My wife and I think that Taj Mahal is the best for Indian and/or Pakistani food in Boise. The owners and family are also wonderful people. However, if they are busy, the wait can border on almost 'maddeningly slow,' since every dish is prepared to order (and we think by only one cook!). Just be prepared for that if you go on a busy w/e night and just enjoy the great food (when it finally arrives at your table).

Re: “Taj Mahal Restaurant

I LOVE this place! The food keeps me going back, again and again, even though they moved downtown and I don't usually head down there, I now make a special trip just because of them! I even have my kids hooked on their food now... count your fingers when going for Naan! lol

Re: “Madhuban

Went to the Lunch buffet that they offer, it was packed, had to wait in line for a while just to get my first plate, but it was definitely worth the wait. Food was amazing, almost wished that it was spicier, but I like my food HOT. Was surprised with all the different choices and variety of dishes. I will go again and again when I get the urge for good Indian food.

Re: “Madhuban

The food is very good, just leave your kids at home if you want any kind of service. I have eaten here almost a dozen times. The food is consistently good, but the service is hit or miss. The last two times I went there was with my wife and kids, who are all pretty well trained retaurant eaters. Both times we watched the people who arrived after us eat their entrees before we were even asked for our order. I love indian food, I have lived in big cities my entire life and had some damn good indian food. When I ate here for the first time, I was so excited to find a decent indian restaurant, and now I will only order take out.

Re: “Taj Mahal Restaurant

This was an extremely disappointing lunch experience. We have enjoyed many different Indian restaurants in the Seattle area which is where we are from and have not experienced this lack of flavor, other than spice, anywhere. The buffet had few offerings on the hot bar that even looked appealing, salad was lettuce with a green chutney and kheer for a dessert offering. One of us declined the buffet and ordered their Chicken Tiki Masala which is usually a dependable choice. After the initial spice there was no flavor whatsover. A very disappointing lunch for two for a total of $32 with no drinks ordered.
