Re: “Women's March on Idaho

Will PRO-LIFE women be welcomed at the local anti-divisiveness march? Evidently they were un-invited at the big Saturday hoo-hah in D.C.

Re: “Welcome to the 19th Century

Zach, you should advise Mom to take a valium and relax. The sun will come up on January 21. Life WILL go on. Far more of her fellow Idahoans are breathing a huge sigh of relief as Dear Leader Obama steps away (if he's really able to - I'm afraid in his mind, he's Dear Leader for Life). We survived it!!

Trump wasn't my first choice, but I'm happy to give him a chance. Like Obama before him, I sincerely hope he's a very successful president! (As measured by the true State of the Union.) And I'm sure happy we're not swearing in a President Hillary this week! She's so crooked that Huma needs to help her screw on those pant-suits!!! (God bless Dr. Thompson!)

Re: “Avalanche of Snow Removal Criticism

Perhaps Mayor Bieter is unfamiliar with the ACHD organization. The in-charge people (commissioners) are voted into office - just like Boise's mayor! - and likewise can be voted out.

THIS lifelong Boise resident feels Bieter is trying to "opportunize" on a once-every-30-years -type weather event, in his relentless quest for power and influence. Based on his and the City Council's track record, I'm guessing the city could probably assume the duties of the ACHD... and figure out a way to do it more expensively! (Only a fool would maintain a fleet of equipment for snow removal at this year's level. Not all of Boise's taxpayers are rich north- and east-enders, Mr. Mayor!!)

Re: “Otter Still Waiting for Trump's Call

George: Ag is nowhere near 20% of Idaho's economy. That is a commonly repeated myth that is easily debunked by visiting the BEA website. Agriculture, forestry, fishing, farming accounted for $3.508 bb in GDP out of Idaho's total $65.549 bb in total GDP in 2005.

Re: “Eric John Kaiser, Jan. 21, Vine Wine Shop

Interesting connection. We have a short-term stay apartment in the North End of Boise that we refer to as "Ville des Arbres" -- so this story about a Paris-born chanteur performing in "La Ville des Arbres" popped up in a "Google Alert" we have set for online references to our apartment. Small world!

Re: “More Heather Scott Melodrama at Idaho Statehouse: Five GOP Legislators Ask to Be Removed From Committees

For as long as most of us can remember, the GOP has had a "super majority" in the Legislature, and pretty much calls the shots. I believe at its root, the local Legislative Soap Opera is a microcosm of the power struggle in the GOP, between the "establishment" group and the "Neo-Republicans."

I suspect that the Bigwigs will beat those rebels into submission, and get back to their traditional Establishment GOP Legislatin' (and ignoring the Democrat minority), in fairly short order.

She's being punished because she is a woman. The men say much worse than that. What about the Rep for Idaho's corporate group last year who made horrible statements and was protected.

Re: “Poll: Has Your Street Been Plowed?

Perhaps before ACHD pats themselves on the back, declaring that they are proud of the work that they have done, they should first finish the job they are being asked to do.

Re: “Letters to the Editor January 11, 2017

The Boise Weekly says on it's mission statement page that comments made to letters shouldn't be "don't be libelous, slanderous, threatening, defamatory, hateful or abusive.

That being said, could it (the BW,) also make an effort to not publish plagiarized pieces by PETA disciples? (That would be just about anything someone submits with an anti-meat theme.)
For instance, Ike Schneider's "letter" (1/11) is a copy of the following two "letters to the editors":
http://registerguard.com/rg/opinion/35143244-78/2017-time-for-plant-based-meats.html.csp - Elijah Hennison, Eugene, OR Jan. 3, 2017
http://www.goerie.com/opinion/20161230/2017-promises-to-deliver-new-vegetarian-options-letters-to-editor - Dick Wahlberg, Erie, PA Posted Dec 30, 2016
Oh, and do a google search on "The plant-based food revolution is going mainstream." to see the three hundred plus (300+) more "letters" by dozens of devoted deceivers dedicated to PETA's dogmata.

The Boise Weekly might also want to consider charging PETA for its "press releases", or more accurately defined "heretofore free advertising", in the future. Isn't that how other organizations (businesses, charities, clubs, festivals) get the word out on their beliefs?
In closing my non-libelous, non-slanderous, non-threatening, non-defamatory, non-hateful and non-abusive, yet truthful request, I wish PETA all the best in their personal nutrition diets.

Re: “Here's ACHD's Explanation of How It Prioritizes Snowplowing

It's now Jan 13th and it's been over a week since snow plows have been through the Hobble Creek neighborhood (bordered by Eagle Rd and Chindin). First there was a foot of snow on our neighborhood streets, then it rained on top of the foot of snow, then the snow started melting and now it's frozen so the foot of slush on our streets is now frozen solid. Neighbors are unwilling to face the icy streets and frozen ridges in the streets. The few cars that venture out quickly lose traction and require help to push their cars out of the frozen ridges. We're running out of groceries now and today we actually made dinner out of pasta that expired in Sept 2010. Please send someone to plow the icy ridges and ice from our streets so we can function and get out and about to run errands and shop for groceries. We feel we've been abandoned. I watch one car after another get stuck in the ice and snow near my house at the corner of Brooklet and W. Edenbrook. Please send snow plows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What she did by not giving that gofundme money to Dalene is fraud. Need to get ahold of gofundme and file a complaint. If they can't help you need to contact law enforcement. People have been arrested for this exact same thing.
