Hi -looks like it's been a few years since this article was written, but I stumbled across it recently and wanted to point you in the direction of a site that is dedicated to loopers (and was started from Boise): http://loopermusic.com/
Josh, the photo posted of Piranhas BC thats on this page and in the Boise Weekly on page 21 was taken by me. There was no photo credit given! To see more of my photos please visit my photo facebook page: www.facebook.com/houseofcarney
This event was loud with talkers, as usual in Boise!
Josh Gross's review of Malachi gives one the impression that his attention to this musical group's work is somehow incisive and important. The artists in question are reasonably talented and musically competent, but this reviewer is not content to break it down on this level. In fact, he seems to pan the band on the basis of personal taste!
Reviews of local art should not rub out the curiosity of the public audience. Local proto-critics working for little local weeklies and the editorial boards that inhabit them do little to serve The Cause of local art if they dissuade readers by critical overreach. Encouagement of public curiosity should be the watch words of these publications so that the people can go see and hear it for themselves.

2/24/2013 -- Believe me, folks, Steve is much too modest. I've found him to be one of the most talented and versatile performers anywhere in the Country -- and I've been a musician for a long, long time. If you ever have a chance to hear Steve play and sing, by all means, do it! He and his long-time sax player buddy, Phil Garonzik, are really hard to beat! -- Johnny Downing, Boise, Idaho
I wonder if the reviewer even realised NJ are a Christian band??
Boise's very own gay mormon jazz singer, go figure!
Very well done, Josh! Viva ODW!!
belle prestation, tres belles voix et musique j'apprecie
Pretty! This was an extremely wonderful post. http://www.schoolanduniversity.com/ Thanks for supplying this info.
this is such a disappointing review. This album scored 9.5 out of 10 on Pitchfork. It is so well written and put together. Did you actually listen to it?
Well I think its great. Listened to it a lot, love the passion and variety. Harpersman Rocks.
Check out the event on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/33371724…) ...tickets available at the Record Exchange or Costume Shop for $12, at the event for $15 ($12 with 2 cans of food donation to the Foodbank).
Hi, Mike from Hummingbird Of Death here. I feel compelled to point out that we didn't actually make our new LP available for download. (Wouldn't want to sabotage the investment Deep Six Records made in putting our record out!) But you can stream the album at www.soundcloud.com/hummerofdoom/sets/hod-skullvalanche. Thanks for the shout-out!
If anyone's interested in attending our record release show December 28, but doesn't know the location, feel free to email us! email@example.com
Few years back I played with three bands but unfortunately an devastating injury happened to my left hand. I had gone through:
which help me alot. After such things I had started to play again and continue in my guitar lessons. I'll keep trying my best to play like before. Any help you can send my way will be much appreciated...Thanks!!
I have been playing guitar for a long time. I have fallen into a flat picking thing like Tony Rice, Mark Oconnor (picking in the wind) from my guitar lessons. What do you offer to help me Master these great flowing licks? Let me know would be appreciated.
