Re: “North Fork Championship Pits Kayakers Against Payette River

Only a few years ago, 2500-3000 cfs at Jake's was considered Outer Limits. Flush drowning is a real possibility. This is more like running with the bulls in Pamplona -- without being able to breathe.

Re: “Bow Fishing the Lowly Carp

I find your comments about killing carp as senceless. Bowfishing is a hard sport and requires talent and lots of practice, not like sitting on the bank and waiting for a fish to bite. As far as them being somewhat responsible for the infastrucure of the US is an assnine comment, thats like saying toilet paper is also responsible. Carp are an invasive species and are destroying the habitat of the game fish. If they are not destroyed soon there will be no more fishing for the average Joe's. I aggrandize the useful killing of carp for this reason. Carpslayer

Re: “Mad Dash Cycling in the Lyle Pearson 200

Boy has she got than one right!! I've done the LP 200 4 times and it's a lot of fun, but also the hardiest bike race anyone will every do, at least in Idaho. Imagine 3-4 one hour maximum efforts (going as absolutely fast as you can) over only about 8-10 hours and you start to get the idea.

I had the pleasure of seeing Ms. Barber's team on the road and they looked great, well drilled (despite her comments to the contrary) and crushing it. They were going at least 31mph all the way from Galena (22 miles). Think about that, 31 mph for 22 miles, on a bike.... Wow!!

Great job ladies (I believe they were the fastest all women's team this year in their first attempt) and wonderful article Sarah!!

Re: “Crossfit Convert

I CrossFit and didn't do any training for Robie Creek.. hills or otherwise. I stayed out drinking all night and ran the race in 2:13, which wasn't too bad with a hangover and the heat that day. Since starting CrossFit years ago, I might run a total of 5 mikes/week and I'm a stronger/faster runner than I ever was in my running days.
My 2 cents.. don't knock it till you've tried it.

I wonder if they'll come back to Boise after the Dynamis Tire Burner is in operation next to their route.

Re: “Shooting Star

When Antoine was in the nba he was a one dimensional ball hog(think Carmelo Anthony 15 yrs ago) who was a jackass that most teammates, fans, and league people couldn't stand. Notice how NO ONE from his nba days is steeping up in defense(not that Antoine knows anything about that) of him now that he blew $100 million on gambling, etc

Re: “Hunting for Dummies

I appreciated your article. I don't eat meat, but I do think that I need to learn some self sufficiency to provide for my family if ever needed. I have no idea of where to begin since most hunters are so vehemently anti anyone who opposes the idea of hunting as a sport or lacks an unquestioning and outdated fanaticism on gun ownership. Btw, I'm a proud Texan, not a Californian and I plan to hunt to old fashioned way. Yes it takes longer, but call me crazy, if I cant can't rely on stores for food I don't want to rely on them for bullets. I'll buy a gun only to put an animal out of unnecessary pain while I learn to use my bows and knives. I'm off to my Texas fish and game website. I hope people wil give you credit for at least learning some and opening your mind a bit. We weren't all raised to think we needed more than a shopping cart, and let's face it, most Americans, even hunters, eat there fair share of meat from Wally world or McDonald's. Get over your self righteousness wannabe cave folk pedestals unless you're living in a homemade cabin, growing your own vegetables, and typing on your solar powered keyboards. What I would love is the next steps from here, besides target practice with my bow, I need help learning the basics like, don't walk on sticks, and reading the signs of animal habitats, etc....

Re: “Paint Ballin'

"My desire to get good increased when I spied a paintball ammunition belt on a mustached pro and couldn't help but think how bad-ass it would look on me."

Hahaha. YES! That's a winning quote.
