Re: “Dry Creek Ranch Plan is a Lesson For Yesterday

Thank you, Harrison, for covering this story. However, I believe your conclusion that this issue is a lost cause is premature.

The original plan was approved in 2010. Since then, the developer has changed, the acreage has changed, the number of houses has changed, the commercial space has changed, the number of schools has changed. All of these changes are substantial. Boise Hunter Homes should have to apply as a new application, not as an "amendment" to a different plan. I believe the Board of County Commissioners is justified in denying the "amendment" on these grounds alone.

There was no notice for the public hearing on 12/15/16 as required by Ada County Ordinance and Idaho Code. Posting notice is not hard. If, as they claim, Boise Hunter Homes plans to develop a unique, farm-to-table community, shouldn't they want as many people to know about it as possible, since such a special plan will surely benefit the community? Or...

If the Board of County Commissioners deny this "amendment," will Boise Hunter Homes develop the original approved plan? If they will not, a denial would stop this whole project. This important question must be answered before a final decision is made.

Re: “Dry Creek Ranch Plan is a Lesson For Yesterday

The developer should not be able to get away with this. They have cobbled together a scattershot, completely unworkable plan for Wildlife. it is an insult to Ada County residents to consider that "mitigation" for this project could include a conservation easement somewhere unknown 30-50 miles away in Elmore County. Plus, the "Open Space" for the Theme Park shoves the deer and elk right out by the main Highway to Horseshoe Bend --- creating a death trap for both animals and motorists.

Re: “Dry Creek Ranch Plan is a Lesson For Yesterday

The application amendment was sought because the existing plan won't pen out. The suggestion that the status quo is worse than the amendment is a developer talking point which ignores the underlying motive/necessity that the amendment be sought in the first place.

If the Commissioners want to find ways to preserve this place for its remarkable history, its incredible agricultural values, and for the wildlife habitat -- the best way to do so is by preserving the status quo: voting no on the amendment before them.

Should the commissioners vote no, or in the alternative remand to the PZC, Ada County citizens will have more time to negotiate opportunities to preserve the very values mentioned.

Re: “'Utter Chaos': ACLU, University of Idaho Attorney Panel Analyzes Trump's Immigration Order

Trump is enforcing current law.

The seven nations named in Trumps executive order are drawn from the
Terrorist Prevention Act of 2015. The 2015 Visa Waiver Program
Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015 named Iraq,
Iran, Sudan, and Syria, while its 2016 update added Libya, Somalia, and
Yemen.

He's using Obama's list. He will create better vetting that will then impact other countries.

Re: “Dry Creek Ranch Plan is a Lesson For Yesterday

The original plat expired February 10. They could not approve the amendment and have the process start over. We could save it. It will take leadership with forsite.

Re: “Dry Creek Ranch Plan is a Lesson For Yesterday

The Ada County Commissioners have the power to stop it. Yes it should have been stopped 10 years ago and it will be painful to stop now...but better than regretting not taking a bold action today. They have the power and they can change the outcome. Saying they can't is a cop out, as is holding the vote at 9am on Tuesday when public participation will be minimal.

Re: “Video: Trump's First Solo Press Conference Was a Sight to Behold

I watched Trumps speech over and over with a local group at a meeting center. We thought it was quite well done; like he said he didn't rant and rave. He and the reporters were joking with each other. Numerous times the news reports have been proven to be false. Reporters themselves have even stated on air that they don't care so much about truth just so they are first to get on the air with a story. If people can't see that our country has been in trouble for years and years they must be deaf and blind. Government has spent excessive amounts of money; given unbelievable sums of cash plus weapons to Iran; crippled the military; drained SS; saddled us with piss poor health coverage; hundreds of people killed in Chicago alone; California is bankrupt & still following Gov Brown down the tubes;parents letting their kids skip school to protest - forget their education;fraudulent voting; the list goes on and on. God Bless America!

Re: “Trump Keeps Getting Asked About Anti-Semitism, But He Doesn't Seem to Have an Answer

This piece typifies so much of the reporting about Trump. He isn't anti-Semitic, has family members and staff that are Jewish, etc. But, because he doesn't play the media's game of repeatedly answering their "gotcha" questions, he is encouraging anti-Semitism? Just like when he denounced David Duke repeatedly, but didn't hear a question properly on CNN and said he didn't know Duke, the left claims he supports the KKK. The majority of media reporting about Trump is INCREDIBLY dishonest and despicable.

Trump is nothing but an egotistical ignoramus. He bitches and complains about fake news but the news reports what comes out of his mouth!! Go figure!! Oh and referring to the New York Times as the FAILING NEW YORK TIMES just because they see through him is utterly ridiculous.

Half The French Army Is Now Deployed On French Streets to keep the peace. Why do lefties have such a thirst for cultural and genetic suicide? If you want to kill yourselves, please proceed, but stop trying to drag the rest of us down with you.

Re: “Ted Challenger on His Past, the China Blue Stabbing and Tighter Security

It is interesting to me that Ted will invest in the equipment necessary to scan IDs and do a background check for a club goer to enter the premise but refuses to invest in a simple wand metal detector that would deter weapons and keep the club safer. Why Ted?

Based on the language of the bill, I doubt he has any idea what meaningful immigration reform is much less anything about immigration.

Re: “ICE Had 89 Ada County Inmates Detained in 2016

How long do we hold them and how much does it cost, including manpower hours, the Idaho taxpayers to do this for ICE? We should hold them as we would any criminal and release or imprison them the same way. We do not pay our police and facilities to be used for detention centers for non-criminals.

Re: “ICE Had 89 Ada County Inmates Detained in 2016

Pursuing sanctuary city status is more than just risky politically - although that should be enough.

Flouting the law, and encouraging others to do the same, undermines the very foundations of our society - a very bad idea.

And - it won't be just the "good" illegal aliens coming to the sanctuary, the bad types will especially seek out sanctuary, knowing that the risk of consequences for their crimes will be low.

For many reasons, this would be a very bad move for Boise.

Re: “SPLC Report Counts Idaho Anti-Muslim Groups

Shelley... what is it, Smith? no offense, but you're wrong. It doesn't matter what or who Trump is. What matters is who people think he is....how can you say that this article is ignorant? It's mostly regurgitated data from other sources, it's not a fckn opinion piece... this article states facts, you know what those are right? I personally don't know that much about hate groups in the US... but I'm sure you know ALL about them... sry for the language BW.

Re: “SPLC Report Counts Idaho Anti-Muslim Groups

As far as I'm aware President Trump doesn't hate Muslims and is not telling anyone to hate them. Some of these groups are not hate groups some truly are. There are terrorists in the USA however and we do not want them no matter what they call themselves. This article is ignorant and creating more fear and hate.

I have to ask, when Obama executed the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015, was anyone who are concerned about the same travel restrictions saying anything in public back then? See this...https://sethfrantzman.com/2017/01/28/obama…
