Re: “City Under Construction

Some of us in Kuna like bike lanes, too. In fact, one of our bridges just got redone to give people bike lanes.

Re: “Exporting Homophobia: American far-right conservative churches establish influence on anti-gay policy in Africa

How bigoted, inaccurate, and irresponsible of you to broad brush all American Churches in this article. Liberals such as yourselves are becoming just as bad as the ultra-conservative people you pretend to oppose. Look in the mirror and see a hypocrite.

Re: “City Under Construction

ROIBOI, Dave Bieter needs the "sprawl" to pay for the "downtown-core". The property the Zions Bank is on NO CITY TAXES the property GBAD owns, NO TAXES
the parking garages in downtown owned by CCDC NO TAXES. It is like first class for the airlines if the coach seats are vacant they can't fly. The best cure would be not to divide Boiseans.. I haven't heard of the Village in Meridian referred to as the Village in EAST Meridian, have you?

Re: “City Under Construction

Boise first mistake was annexing the exurban areas. Now there is a disconnect between those in the outer areas of the city and the downtown core. The lesson in this is: you reap what we sow. There is are 2 cures.
Hold a referendum and let the western portion of the sprawl we now call west Boise regroup into some other municipality.
Second, the mayor and the city council should have the courage to take back the roads and alleys from ACHD by whatever legal means is available. Then people in Kuna and Meridian will have nothing to say about bike lanes in the downtown that they seldom frequent.

Re: “City Under Construction

Is any of this going to translate into jobs for the unemployed, or just playhouses for groupthinks and show and tell?

Re: “City Under Construction

"Boise has never been a hemmed-in place, and if residents wanted more space, they could buy or build large homes far from the downtown core and commute to work and play."
Would someone tell the staff at BW that the downtown core is not the only place jobs are or have been available. Most jobs in the downtown core are held by governments, banks and law firms. Past Boise council members and mayors were in a panic to incorporate, Ada county property, into the city when the mall, HP, and Micron opened for business. So building "large homes" from the "downtown-core" made sense as most were not commuting to the "downtown-core". If you did a survey of residents in the "downtown-core" I believe you would find that most condos are a second home, or write off.

Re: “Musicians vs. Venues: lawsuits, licensing fees and the middle men

It has nothing to do with paying the performers. It's about paying the songwriters. The songwriters do not get paid for a performance. They get paid when their songs get played at various venues or on the radio.

Re: “Full Disclosure: Idaho's HIV Disclosure Laws Causing Their Own Issues

Been a HIV positive is just like been through hell; well special thanks to God almighty for using Dr. Zaki the greatest spell caster in curing my HIV disease. I was diagnosed of this disease in the year 2008. Thou I was taking my medications buy I was not myself. Until last two weeks. My friend came to me and told me that he saw many testimonies on how a spell caster cured people HIV disease. Thou I never believe in spell, I said to myself "seen is believing" I took his name and searched it on GOOGLE, I saw many testimonies myself. Quickly, I copied his email I emailed him, he gave me a form to fill which I did, then he called me and told me that his gods required some items in which he will use in casting a curing spell on me. And di told him to get the listed items needed to prepare my cure because by then i have little faith in him, few hours later he called me and told me he is through preparing the cure. so he send it to me I got my parcel, it was a herbal cure as described by Dr. Zaki. I took the herbal cure and after taking it for a week and some days. He told me to go for check up, I went to the hospital and had a hiv test, I was tested HIV negative. Quickly I called him and tell him what happened he congratulated me. I promise to tell the world about him. You can contact via email or phone number

Re: “Anatomy of a Wolf Attack

I'm a city dweller, born and raised, but I tip my hat to the ranchers and farmers who put the food on my table. Brainless remarks at the top of this comment thread. The folks who made them wouldn't survive a month if they had to grow their own food.

Re: “12th Annual Black & White Photo Contest

I'm editing my last comment..what I meant to say was that I noticed that the winners had double winning submissions...which i think is odd ..considering there wasover a hundred submissions entered .. and those photos you chose WERE that best?...come on that's cant be true.. you can't pick a winning photoblow it up and put it on the cover of a magazine and make it look like crap if the pixels are wrong for that type of large picture then you have the burden of responsibility of posting it in the true context it was delivered to you in the otherwise you have a distorted blurred photo. I think that you guys should CONSIDER ANOTHER contest were your subscribers and viewers get to see the pictures people submit and vote on it

Re: “12th Annual Black & White Photo Contest

being a big huge fan of the Boise weekly and being a photographer you would think I would have noticed this context dependent happened...I never read about it anywhere on online or on your hard copy it strikes me I bet all the winners actually have more than one photo as when you see you at over 100 submitted and does crap photos were the winners...I think you should do a redo and perhaps like the viewers your subscribers choose the pictures thats real honest involves a real community spirit and involvement

Re: “12th Annual Black & White Photo Contest

"...we don't host the annual Full-Color, Photoshop-Edited, Instagram-Filtered Photo Contest." That much is clear. What is also clear is that you do host the Color-Desaturated, Photoshop-Edited, Instagram-Filtered Photo Contest. Faked tilt/shift and vignetting as the winner? Sorry, those are staples of Instagram and Photoshop editing.
