Re: “CuMo Mining Corporation Gets One Step Closer to Exploration of Boise River Headwaters

KTVB ran the referenced story without contacting CuMoCo and it included footage from an interview conducted in September 2013. It's unfortunate the media is in such a rush to sensationalize a story that they fail to conduct the due diligence necessary to provide balanced factually based information.

Yes! You can purchase use of the bikes at a kiosk where they are parked. Smartphone or app not mandatory.

What about those of us who do not own a Smartphone? Is there a way we will be able to participate?

Re: “Washington Bill to Increase Speed Limit Heads to Governor's Desk

75-mph is entirely reasonable: Oregon's rural interstates are the safest rural roads, accounting for 3.5% of traffic deaths in 2013! Oregon rural interstates had a fatality rate of 0.26 deaths per 100-million-travel-miles -- FAR FAR LOWER than the 1.35 rate on Oregon's rural roads overall.

The "dirty secret"? "Excessive speed" crashes are uncommon on interstates. Speed-related crashes are driver failures to adapt to ADVERSE CONDITIONS such as fog, rain, sharp curves, etc -- typically impacting slower, surface roads!

Re: “Mr. Cope's Cave: Dear Pres ... er, Mrs. Clinton

To support Hillary, you must possess one of two qualities. You are either: a) So egregiously stupid that you simply aren't aware of how corrupt and inept she is; or b) So blissfully ignorant and tied to your idiotic liberal beliefs that it doesn't matter to you how corrupt and inept she is. Either way is a sad commentary on the collective intelligence and integrity of liberals in today's world. You must be so proud.....

Re: “7-Year-Old Shot by Another Child in Eastern Idaho Incident

Luckily people do not need concealed weapons permits outside of Boise. It would hamper their freedom to let their children shoot each other.

Ajax, the issue is that their parents do not have jobs that allow them to support their families. We are in a right to work state which as we know means right not to pay decent wages. CEO's make 300 times more than their workers. Does that make sense to you?

Re: “Study: Too Many Hungry Idaho Children

“Even as the economy improves…..”

The corporations and their government tools have repeated this ‘improving economy’ lie for so long that virtually everyone believes it.

How many ways does this need to be said?…….The economy has only improved for the parasites in upper 20% of the third world economy we’re now living in.

For over 30 years, under both Democratic and Republican leaders, we've been hooked on Reaganomics policies that have helped the wealthy elite and those at the top, but screwed over everyone else.

Reaganomics has gutted the middle-class, and destroyed the strong and vibrant economy that we once had. The income gap in America has widened exponentially since Reagan took office and implemented the so-called "Reagan Tax Cuts."

In 1980, the top 1 percent of Americans controlled 10 percent of annual U.S. income.
As of 2007, the top 1 percent controlled 23.5 percent of annual U.S. income; the highest it's been since the Great Depression.

Is it a matter of distribution? Is it that a lot of these folks don't have or don't know how to access the foodstuffs at 'Idaho Food Bank?'

Sad. If you have to the things around the house, at least keep them locked up.

Re: “Mr. Cope's Cave: Dear Pres ... er, Mrs. Clinton

While you can, at least to be fair in this very early stage of the process, use the word 'presumptive Democratic nominee,' but seriously - who among the challengers, at least at this point, can upend her? I think that it would take some sort of late comer to the game to give her a 'run for her money.'

Re: “UPDATE: War of Words Ignites Among Idaho GOP In Wake of Defeat of Child Support Measure

We need a smart, intelligent woman to run against Luker next time in District 15. The only person he looks out for is himself. He has not business representing District 15. His district is full of single moms just barely making it. But, he could care less because he isn't in government for the people; he's in it for himsef.

Re: “Washington Bill to Increase Speed Limit Heads to Governor's Desk

Again this is another misconception about how speed limits should be set.

The proper and engineering based posted maximum is from a time when drivers are unimpeded by enforcement for a period of time allowed to choose the speed they feel safe & comfortable traveling at. This data is collected on what that average travel speed is then in the best case without the interference of political arbitrary maximum like 55,65,70,75 or even 80. The current maximum in all 50 states today is based on a number literly pulled out of thin air. If having posted maximum was really about the safest maximum speed drivers should be allowed to travel the law would be let the state's DOT do safety, engineering and speed data surveys. Then without any arbitrary number pulled out a hat allow the state DOT to post that limit within or just above a 5 mph interval to observed speeds. If this was done compliance would approach 99-100 %!

Re: “Mr. Cope's Cave: Dear Pres ... er, Mrs. Clinton

Bill……So you ARE a neocon in liberal clothing……Just like your presumptive democratic nominee.

Much of Clinton 2.0’s popular support will be based on her image as an advocate of women’s rights.

Such depictions have little basis in Clinton’s past performance. While she has indeed spoken about gender and sexual rights with considerable frequency, and while she may not share the overtly misogynistic and anti-LGBT views of most Republican politicians, as a policymaker she has consistently favored policies devastating to women and LGBT persons.

A reasonable synopsis of Clinton’s record around the world comes from neoconservative policy adviser Robert Kagan, who, like Clinton, played an important role in advocating the 2003 Iraq invasion. “I feel comfortable with her on foreign policy,” Kagan told the New York Times last June. Asked what to expect from a Hillary Clinton presidency, Kagan predicted that “[i]f she pursues a policy which we think she will pursue, it’s something that might have been called neocon.” But, he added, “clearly her supporters are not going to call it that; they are going to call it something else.”

Mainstream U.S. political candidates, particularly Democrats, must find ways to attract popular support while simultaneously reassuring corporate and financial elites.

She would have been better than your Barry but she's not the right person for 2016.

But, have to say this one thing, your ability to keep bitter must keep you on the list for all the cool Meridian/Eagle dinner parties.

Actually it's worse here because Republicans voluntarily under-fund everything and voluntarily worship their supreme leader Butch Otter. Also, at least in North Korea there isn't undue religious influence everywhere.

Re: “Video: Spokane School District Prepared to Pull Hundreds of Children Out of Class For Immunization Non-Compliance

The following statement from the Washington State Department of Health should be kept in mind when reading the article aboe. The quote is verbatim.

Immunization Exemption Law

On May 10, 2011, Governor Gregoire signed a bill that requires a licensed health care provider to sign the Certificate of Exemption for a parent or guardian to exempt their child from school and child care immunization requirements. The signature verifies that the provider gave the parent or guardian information about the benefits and risks of immunization. A parent or guardian can also turn in a signed letter from a health care provider stating the same information.
The law goes into effect on July 22, 2011. It only applies to exemptions requested after this date. A health care provider doesn't need to sign the form for parents or guardians who demonstrate membership in a church or religious group that does not allow a health care provider to provide medical treatment to a child.
