The following statement from the Washington State Department of Health should be kept in mind when reading the article aboe. The quote is verbatim.
Immunization Exemption Law
On May 10, 2011, Governor Gregoire signed a bill that requires a licensed health care provider to sign the Certificate of Exemption for a parent or guardian to exempt their child from school and child care immunization requirements. The signature verifies that the provider gave the parent or guardian information about the benefits and risks of immunization. A parent or guardian can also turn in a signed letter from a health care provider stating the same information.
The law goes into effect on July 22, 2011. It only applies to exemptions requested after this date. A health care provider doesn't need to sign the form for parents or guardians who demonstrate membership in a church or religious group that does not allow a health care provider to provide medical treatment to a child.

your state has a lot in common with north korea, you know...
Thanks for putting faces on the fear and ignorance that is Idaho Republican politics.
While I agree that the majority of drivers drive over the posted speed limit, that does not mean that it should be excusable. It's called a "limit" for a reason. Regardless of whether or not the pull over threshold has decreased, if you drive over the posted speed limit you risk getting a speeding citation.
One other thing I forgot to mention is that S.1067 subjugates Idaho courts to the decisions of international courts and tribunals without recourse. It's not clear if it would include family issues beyond child support for international cases but presumably it would.
The fact that Rajan Zed is calling for an apology shows that he doesn't understand what it is to be an American. We have freedom of speech here Rajan. Senator Nuxoll can say whatever she wants ..so suck it up.
This article is long on gossip and short on facts. S.1067 sought to integrate an international convention signed at the Hague into Idaho law. Yes, there was money that came with it - probably to establish an international division of attorneys in the State Attorney General's office. How much do you suppose that would cost Idaho taxpayers in the long run?
The Hague Convention on the International Recovery of Child Support... references Articles 3 and 31 from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child - a treaty the U.S. Senate has not ratified. The Obama Administration's attempt to extort the states into embedding the Hague Convention with reference to the UN Convention into Idaho law is an attempt to backdoor ratify the UN Convention. It also requires the states to violate Article 1, Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution - "No state shall enter into any treaty, alliance, or confederation".
Once again, the media fails to serve the public interest.
The church seems to forget that the wider world is always watching-the evangelism field is looking and laughing at the church and its narrow stupidity.
Why are Buddhists attracting new members and the Christian Protestant Church is failing? We think it is about belief and it really is about a way of life that is inclusive and loving -not narrow and Stupid!!
The training and actions of these law enforcement are sadly lacking people skills. They had NO weapons, but THEY got shot. There was no need to ratchet it up. Just ONE Texas Ranger was all you needed there with outstanding mental capacity to handle the family. One decent investigator, not carloads of cops with billy clubs. I would be ashamed. ASHAMED.
I would have handled this without killing anybody. It's not like they were terrorists planning a bad day. You have a mom and dad figure, probably the parents. You speak with them first, not go charging in like into battle. The proof is one dead. Not professional. More like professional soldiers.
that stat of an increase in tickets in Idaho is quite misleading from the reality on the ground.
Hear is a little more truthful description of what is happening,,,,
With the 75 posted limit 85 was the enforced/ ticketed limit in Idaho. But with the rise to 80 posted that threshold dropped to 80 mph. So traffic is traveling at the exact same speed range they have for decades but pull over threshold has been dropped leading to a rise in written tickets.....
So drivers are actually traveling slower than before the limit was increased due to a lowering of the ticket threshold.....
It always helps to see the real picture when the actual facts are included!
Sheryl Nutjob should go on a hunting trip with Dick Cheney.
I can see why the legislature had some issues with the law. After reading it, the bill can be open to interpretation as it doesn't have a method regulate which countries rulings are valid and exposes risks to Idaho residents to unfair rulings when traveling abroad. Of course this isn't what the legislature is worried about...
This part can easily be fixed by giving Idaho judges the ability to review cases that questionable quasi-courts rulings and give the ability to make them invalid within the state's borders.
Outside of that part, it is a nice piece of lawmaking. I hope that Otter calls a special session and that a form of this legislate passes.
What are we going to do about the Legislature?
I no longer believe the Legislature represents anyone. The pendulum has swung so far to the fringe that the Legislature can no longer, in any sense, be considered "representative." Continual embarrassment isn't good for the citizen, for business, for farmers, for the next generation.
No opposition within the Legislature counters this weird, wacky behavior. Democrats are an obscure minority. No hope of returning to parity. The Republicans have balkanized -- conservatives, extreme Tea Party conservatives, and the truly, certifiably insane. No Democrats bravely change their registration, run as Republicans, get elected, then begin the slow process of moderating the Republican Party from within. State offices rest firmly in conservative Republican hands, who control the process of legislation, governing, and voting. Game, set, match!
Let's convene an "Parallel Legislature" as a citizens watchdog on the actions of the "Mondo Bizarro World" that's the regular Legislature. Debate the same legislation pending under the Dome. Allow citizens to come in, testify, meaningfully participate, instead of stonewalling and silencing them. Begin each session with prayers from whatever religion cares to participate.
Idaho doesn't cross my RADAR often but when it does, it's stories like this. Thanks for not disappointing....
How about this for the Idaho Legislature: any principal sponsor of any legislation that is later overturned on constitutional or other legal grounds and that requires significant tax dollars by the State to defend in court would be required to reimburse the State for those tax expenditures.
Take your pick -- ag-gag, state takeover of Federal lands, Sharia law, etc., etc. -- any legislator whose ideological bent requires the State to defend unsound, unconstitutional pieces of legislation would become personally liable to the Idaho state treasury.
Idaho Republican legislators are always harping on high taxes and taxpayer burdens, yet they are more than eager to push wacky legislation that winds up costing you and me very real tax dollars. Enough!
For those who seem so incredibly confused about how the law works, there's nothing about this that would say that somehow international or foreign laws somehow override your state laws. Period. The ONLY time that international law applies is when you are dealing with somebody who resides OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES! It's the same principal as going to another country and having to abide by their laws while you are there, just like tourists have to abide by ours here. Our land, our laws, our rules. Simple enough for you?
And this why my ex is 24000 In arear our state doesn't have the resources to find the dead beat
Some states like Vermont do not have anyone independent of the legislature, governor, attorney general, auditor, treasurer, etc. to investigate corruption, governmental waste, mismanagement, etc. Obviously then the studies are flawed!
Christianity is a false religion based on hatred and several iterations and diatribes of varying conditions and interpretations. It is a murderous religion with regards to the Spanish Inquisitions and the Holy Crusades. I think it is time to label Christianity as a terrorist organization due to the lack of biblical teachings being followed, covert by sword (just as ISIS, different time periods), the hatred they impose on those who disagree with them, and the forcible manner in which they try to get everyone in the US to be held to their standards and religious laws. Can someone please tell me how they are any better than ISIS. THEY ARE NOT AND NEVER WILL BE!!!
