Re: “Four Charts: How Fossil Fuels Get More Global Subsidies Than Public Health

As usual, the core problem here is being dodged.

Energy and Health must be taken out of the hands of greedy profit-seekers and along with mining and banking must be nationalized into public hands or the relentless progression to third world status in these countries will continue.

Oh No!!! Somebody mentioned that verboten word ‘Nationalized’.

Time to trot out the ‘See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil’ crowd once again.

The capitalist system has imposed on us a logic of competition, progress and limitless growth. This regime of production and consumption seeks profit without limits, separating human beings from nature and imposing a logic of domination upon nature, transforming everything into commodities: water, earth, the human genome, ancestral cultures, biodiversity, justice, ethics, the rights of peoples, and life itself.

It is imperative that we forge a new system that restores harmony with nature and among human beings.

And in order for there to be balance with nature, there must first be equity among human beings.

We cannot deal with our social and economic crises while the 1% runs our economy like a casino, with the bulk of the indoctrinated population enslaved by greedy, ‘slave market’ religious fanatics.

Re: “Irish Voters Back Gay Marriage

What I love about this is that not even God could bring the Irish Protestants and Catholics together. But, the gays did! How are they so immoral? They actually united Ireland.

Re: “Study: One in Six Species Faces Extinction From Climate Change

"There is a lot more work that needs to be done to understand the causes underlying these patterns and their policy implications," he added……..

…….before we should jump to conclusions and drastic measures that aren’t based on enough understanding about the previous five mass extinctions.

The statement by Finnegan, at the top, underscores the only known fact concerning whether humans or natural solar and planetary cycles have the greatest impact on global warming and species extinction.

Hitching global warming to human exhaust pipes, if anything, shows an inflated arrogance that may just be the strongest contributor to the extinction of the human species.

Scientific history is replete with examples of consensus views that were flat-out wrong, and scientists continue to be used to legitimize the advancement of agendas that increase the amount of control and exploitation of global populations.

Meanwhile, the public, through repetition of desired consensus views, and having limited time to deeply examine the scientific ‘facts’, is manipulated into adopting the beliefs of those who are manufacturing consent.

A consistently used tool for manufacturing consent is the use of misdirection, an act of misleading, of convincing someone to concentrate in an incorrect direction.

Who benefits in this case?

Re: “There Are Hundreds of 'Micronations' You've Never Heard Of

Someone should make more of an effort to do research, or accurately represent the contents of the original press release. Just a quick example, Ladonia was not created in 2011. It was created in 1996 after 14 years of court battles. One Internet search and a quick scan of the Wikipedia article tells you that.

Re: “Obama, Castro Meet at Panama Summit

Make no mistake…. The United States remains dedicated to transforming or ejecting revolutionary socialism in Cuba, but recognizes that the old Cold War method didn’t work. The “bad cop” with the bludgeon botched the job, so the “good cop” with the smile takes over.

Washington’s anti-Cuba policy amounted to a gross long-term violation of the human rights of 11 million Cuban citizens in hopes they would rebel under such pressure……but they didn’t.

The U.S. added Cuba to Washington’s State Sponsor of Terrorism list 32 years ago, although the country has not engaged in or sponsored terrorism.

Sanctions have served a critical function in crushing Cuba but have also become a major international humiliation for the United States. On Oct. 28, last year, the UN General Assembly voted for the 23rd year in a row to condemn the U.S. commercial, economic and financial embargo against Cuba. This year’s vote was 188-2, with only Israel siding with Washington. Not surprising. Partners in crime.

In addition to the failure of the White House anti-Cuba policy up until now, another reason for change is that the U.S. has lost considerable authority in Latin America and the Caribbean in the last 15 years.…

Re: “Pope at Easter Vigil: Seek Truth, Beauty and Love

Ah yes……”Seek Truth”….as defined by the catholic church, since the actual Truth may illuminate the hodge-podge of concocted beliefs that make up the fairy tale belief system that is catholicism.

The programming and indoctrination concerning this belief system, is so deeply embedded in this culture that even many non-christians find themselves contemplating the consequences of irreverent thoughts or actions on the ‘sacred’ fictional script that is called easter.

Those sheep that are fully indoctrinated into the cult might "enter the mystery", but never to the point where they become free from cult beliefs and allow enough awareness to occur that they recognize the fantasy.

“Seeking a deeper meaning”, in this case implies strongly reinforcing the concocted beliefs of the church, while resisting any clear awareness that might lead one to question the whole fictional story.

To “boldly live their faith” is exactly what resulted in the Christians persecuting, torturing and murdering millions of people since the cult was created.

A ‘bold’ move would actually be for cult members to throw off these fallacious mentally crippling beliefs and stand in the light of their own awareness, ‘free at last’ from the constricted consciousness that has been forced on them since birth.

Re: “It's a Cold, Cold World: The Lowest Temperatures Ever Recorded on Earth

You'd better finish there then, Jen-O. This MAY come as a surprise to you, but in MANY parts of the world "organisations" and "realise" are actually correct spellings... along with colour, honour, and harbour. Look beyond the 50 states of your country. Hell, all ya gotta do is just look north to your "neighbour" and find lots of other different spellings!

I'm enjoying your conversations and you are all obviously much smarter than myself and I'm learning a lot from this conversation......or just getting confused. But I have one suggestion for Trev, SPELL CHECK buddy. You seem like an intelligent guy....or at least your just trying to look smart. Learn to spell, it will help your case a little 😉
(OrganiZations, must not like the letter "Z") I'm sure there's more, but we'll start there.

Re: “Marijuana as Medicine: Modern Miracle or Public Health Catastrophe?

I am a MM user and I have to say to those who doubt that it is an effective pain are ignorant of the benefits that THC and CBDs have on neurotransmission. And, NO I am not stoned all the time. One of the more potent ways of taking MM is extracts prepared with oils or solvents such as alcohol. I don´t get "high" when I use these forms but I do get relief from my Ehlers Danlos symptoms that I get from NO OTHER form of drug. I have terrible reactions to pharmaceuticals as do MANY EDS sufferers so what are my options??? Would YOU live every day in EXTREME pain and suffering if you knew there was a plant you could grow that would alleviate most of it???!!! REALLY people, get the FACTS about medicinal use of marijuana and talk to some of us so called "stoners" who would rather die than live without this medication.

Re: “The 10 Safest Cities in the World

Wow, sounds like you just have a problem with porn. Do yourself a favor and stay out of Montreal. Not to mention several other amazing cities on this list have the same environmental problems. Tokyo suffered a disaster that has affected the country as a whole. Are you going to attack New Orleans too?

Re: “The 10 Safest Cities in the World

*cough* bullcrap *cough* Tokyo is safe like... you are casually browsing through the Manga pornos in Manga susper porno store then getting trapped under a shelf when 8.5 earthquake hits then drowning in the ensuing tsunami, never finding out if big membered monster ever defiles the merman that likes to cross dress on land, safe... Have they cleaned up all the radiation spills? People in Asia refuse to eat fish imported from Japan. Japanese people don't eat fish caught in Japan.

Re: “Greece Votes on Whether to Dump Austerity, Take on Lenders

"The ugly step child gets rebellious" would be a better headline. As would "Greeks consider communism" could be another. They have a corrupt government and unproductive population. Should never have been given full membership to the EU, thus not a chance they will continue to be bailed out by the motherland (Germany). I predicted in 1988 that the EU would fail. It took longer than I thought it would. At least Russia is very weak now too.

Re: “Video: The Netherlands Has a Holiday Blackface Problem

As a third generation Belgian American (Flemish too) , I can say this : Zwarte Piet has to do with the Spanish Moors , and if you really go into the history, why they were chosen was because Spanish had ruled the low lands for years and years and years. Of course in modern history, zwarte piet' face is blackened with soot because of going down the chimney, unlike in America where Santa gets dirty from the chimney.. And in America, the elves are the 'slaves' if you think about it. in the Dutch / Belgian tradition, St. Nicholas, of which the character of Sinterklaas is based upon, freed the slave Petrus, who was so thankful that he decided to serve St. Nicholas the rest of his life.
Yes, it is in a way based off of slaves but not in America... and this is a EUROPEAN history. If I go into history, then we should be as American no longer celebrate Thanksgiving because that is offensive to Native Americans, I am offended because there is a German King on the Throne of Belgium (Well yes he is Belgian now) and my ggreat grandmother was born out of wedlock in 1880 from a Belgian royal. She had to come to America because of controversy. I am part Flemish too and Flems are offended because we had have no rights and to wanted freedom for a lot of things - even today . Pagans are offended because of Christmas being celebrated on their holiday, Christmas was NEVER celebrated on the 25th as it was a Pagan holiday and back in the day, it was changed (look it up) . Point is, this is a silly thing to get all upset over when people don't know the full history. This article doesn't tell the full story about Zwarte Piet.
