Re: “Against Philanthropy

Nice work Ted! Most people are too scared or stupid to say what you just did. It's easy to give away a few million for a tax break, but giving shouldn't be universally praised especially when it's to private for profit universities.

Re: “Against Philanthropy

Hey Ted, here's the website you are looking for. I'm pretty sure your paycheck could be better served by donating to the charity of government than anything you value or support through your own sensibilities. You can post the receipt here so we can judge the relative value of your philanthropy by our standard of right.

Re: “Against Philanthropy

You want 'fair' philanthropy? Then bring on the so-called revolution you talk about. Life itself is not fair. Why should philanthropy be fair. Its built on personal choices, knowledge of an organization and a cause built of a relationship over time. There are millions of causes, all deserving no doubt. What you want is a government that takes away the charitable deduction, and makes everything work for everyone, all the time. Paradise. No where on this earth i've seen. Even with your revolution somebody somewhere will be left out.

Re: “Men of Dishonor

Haven't you heard? Honor is for suckers. The new mantra, vocalized by Daddy Bush is, "I will do anything to win re-election." Lie, cheat, steal, is not only the guiding principle of Congress but also a good portion of the American electorate who have adopted this attitude in this age of winner take all economic darwinism. Cheaters always win. Sure they might face prosecution, pay a minor fine, and go on with their business. Or plead guilty to felony deception to win government contracts, then go right back to pursuing and winning those contracts. To be successful in business, you just have to grease the right palms. That's modern life. Folks who believe in honesty and integrity are left behind in today's economy. Left behind to try and get by on the occasional contract awarded, while the illegal operators undercut us by 20 or 30 percent, pay no social securtiy or workman's comp, pay no state and federal taxes, and go online to protest the government. The state allows and encourages this behavior through non enforcement. To be honorable and honest is to be broke. That's OK. At least I can go to bed every night with a clear conscience. I don't know about the members of Congress. But they do go to bed at night with the knowledge that their sell out of America has guaranteed a lifetime of wealth to all their family members. And when the planet becomes unlivable, their descendants will sell oxygen by the liter.

Re: “Bipartisan Contempt

I just don't get why anyone thinks there is any real difference between republicans and democrats? All they do is turn up the heat on hot button issues, play divide and conquer and as they quietly serve the people who pay the big bucks to put them in office.

Re: “Awaiting a Slut Moment

AAAAARRRGGGH!!!!!! Holy Sh*t! Nobody involved with "National Intelligence" gives 2 drops of goat piss that Petreaus cheated on his wife with his biographer. Hell, the smart ones planned on it. The issue is the press and public found out because people don't mind there business and don't keep there F'n mouths shut; and that's not the ISSUE, just the paper seller. These stupid "sluts" got in trouble because they were stupid. The emails that started the federal investigation, the people who are involved, it has nothing to do with infedility or the violation of Bush's Christian Right (under that regime he was known as "David Betray-Us"). It has everything to do with the fact that the biographer and the stupid brat in Florida were accessing and sending emails on a secure server. Essentially, 2 people who have no security clearance were having an online cat fight over a secure system that only those with the nation's highest top security clearance could use. Translation: these dumb ho's had Mr. Sluts sign-in, password etc. and the nation's security was technically compromised. I'm not even going to tap into the hornet nest that is Benghazi and why the security force protecting the secondary embassy was contracted out to locals and not standard US Marine Corps. Bottom line, Petraeus should resign AND lose all pension and benefits. His resignation will free him from a court martial for treason. The other two "sluts" should face some federal retribution for "misuse" of "classified" government information.

Re: “Awaiting a Slut Moment

"he had had sex with a woman who was not his wife, and so what?" and "harmless fun"? i agree what happens behind closed doors should stay there, and most likely not impact someone's employment to our nation... but really, betraying a life partner and potentially exposing them to disease... harmless? perhaps if we are all completely evolved to not have an inkling of possessiveness or jealousy or insecurity present in our emotional make up. don't think that will be a reality any time soon.

Re: “The Leftist Republican Party of the Future

It's time for the Republican Party to stop worrying about the Old Testament cool aid drinkers. They are becoming less relevant every day.

Re: “It's 15 Percent About Roe v. Wade

Sorry Ted. It's all about Roe v Wade for me. I'd vote Dem anyway but SCOTUS is my bright line.

Re: “It's 15 Percent About Roe v. Wade

I cannot understand why Roe v wade is such an issue this is so moronic. I really doubt that people were worried about this issue. It's not an issue. You'd think that after all these years, the stupid ones, would realize that nothing has changed with roe v wade. You morons talk about it each election season (churches misleading the public about it as an accomplice to your big money elections), yet nothing is has ever changed with this ruling. The only thing that has changed is that the people are either one, stupid, or two, stupider. LOL

Re: “If You Vote, You Can't Complain

I strongly disagree with Rall's opinion on this and find this highly irresponsible. I think that anyone who has had relatives that have fought for the right to vote should be respectful and honored for what they did. Sure, women come to mind with the suffrage movement, and African Americans, but there are also white men who also fought to let their voices be heard. Would he sing the same tune if this right was taken away? Voting should be mandatory, and recognized as a duty for our society. It's easy to be cynical, but one shouldn't discourage people to not vote.

Re: “Big Bird is a 1 Percenter

It might be useful for you to actually read the annual report of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the private corporation created by congress and charged with managing the federal investment in public broadcasting. Then you might also read the annual report of IdahoPTV. And then tell me if the CPB is wasting ANY money, and tell me what the impact of the loss of 14% of their budget would mean to Idaho public broadcasters, and, subsequently, Idahoans.

Re: “Big Bird is a 1 Percenter

Rall: "If we want to appear credible when we criticize right-wingers, we left-of-center types have to hold ourselves to the same standards."

Since when was "appearing credible" important to most left-of-center types?

Later in the same piece, Rall refers to the "planet-murdering energy corporations." That would only seem credible if he doesn't patronize those evil corporations.
