Re: “Lloyd Pendleton and Greg Morris

This is one of the most hopeful articles that I have read since I have been here in Boise. What a breath of fresh air to hear someone from the LDS Church with someone outside of it collaborating to improve the situation of all. Thank you Sweet Baby Jesus.

Re: “David Leland

But Leland, we don't want to be Denver or Portland. Boise is a very nice size now. Too much growth, too fast is what happened a few years back. What kind of quality is that? What does Boise need? Talk about the foothills. Talk about parks, open space and the things that will attract people here far into the future. Talk about quality of life. So you talk about buildings? Really?

Re: “Richard Heinzl

What an incredible inspiration. Perhaps he should speak to the Boise Chapter of the NRA?

Re: “Rep. John Gannon

John Gannon is an honest and thoughtful person who listens.
Bikeboy is right on, and has a great attitude.

Mutual respect. Consideration. Finding Common Ground with common sense.
Despite differing views. Responsive and Responsible. Finding solutions.
That's the John Gannon I know. He's not in my district, but I'm glad he is serving our state. I wish there were more like him in the legislature from either party.

Re: “Lynn Luker

Lynn Luker, a homophobe and user of ALEC canned ultra right wing legislation. Hmm, momma better hide the kids under the bed, there's a twister.

Re: “Rep. John Gannon

John Gannon is my representative. Since I'm more the "staunch conservative" like his maternal grandfather, we don't always agree. When we disagree, I try to let him know. He respects my viewpoint and I get the impression he gives it his consideration. I respect and understand his viewpoint.

The article doesn't mention that this is his second stint as a legislator. He did it once before, a decade or so back. He's a good man.

Re: “Lynn Luker

Mr. Luker's performance this year is at best disgusting. Really, a man that was a professional that knows what the results of a hate bill will have and the money it will cost the state to defend should be embarrassed in asking the Legislature to pass them. Hate is hate sir and you proclaim it in the name of religion....you know it will loose the inevitable battle and you were willing to spend the money that could be better spent for education or in helping the poor.

IIRC, Stop Making Me Cry, that part-time salary also includes full medical benefits and PERSI.

Re: “Brandon Hixon

funny to hear him speak the woes of him being under-paid as a legislator, when the state legislature has not given state employees any net increases in wages for several years. The most recent 2% increase was on the heels of a 5% decrease, so state employees are still down 3% not to mention inflation has not stopped.

By the way the poor salary of $16K is for about 3 months work, so its annualized to $64K a year. I know many people who make $16K in a year but they work 12 months for it. Being a part-time legislature was never meant to be a career so don't complain about the wages.

Rep Hixon have you yet to live up to your own personal financial obligations?

Re: “Dr. Jill Gill

To the people responsible for TBR's stunning race-baiting piece by Jill Gill:

Jill left out how Buffalo Soldiers were sent by the federal government to break up strikes in North Idaho in the 19th century and how that contributed historically to racism in that part of the state and perhaps caused Idahoans to distrust blacks and the federal government.

Why did she also leave out the connection between government interference in local affairs and anti-government sentiment in the state? How about the assassination of an Idaho governor for calling on the federal government to bring black soldiers into North Idaho to stop the strikes there?

I smell a rat...and an agenda. BSU has BS in its name, and I am calling out Jill Gill as a propagandist.

The article Jill wrote is what I would call "selective research" intended to serve a political agenda. What is that agenda? Well, I noticed that Jill is active as a LGBT supporter. So, that's what her article is really about: Softening up Idahoans to push a homosexual agenda.

BSU's involvement in TBR is exposed as a fraudulent attempt to push the LGBT "human rights" agenda on Idaho by calling us all racists. Are Idaho's Basques racists, too? How about the Japanese-Americans who live in the state?

Fongu to you, BSU.

Consider this the beginning of how you got yourself defunded by Idaho's taxpayers.

Re: “Dr. Geoff Williams

I have had the fortune to know Geoff Williams personally for many years as we attend the same church. He truly is a ministering angel who loves what he does. He could have taken the "money road" as a plastic surgeon but he chose to serve the less fortunate with his talents.
It's an honor to know him.

Re: “Lynn Luker

I'm disappointed that a man with Mr. Luker's background in law and public policy and his experience in the legislature would introduce, let alone consider, bills that advance discrimination or that promote religion. The most basic tenet of our democracy is that "all men are created equal."

Re: “Lynn Luker

George... Since Mr. Luker is an attorney, and a former partner with famous ambulance-chaser Goicoechea, why didn't you ask him how he feels about liability limits in injury and malpractice cases? Or how he would feel about a "loser pays the expenses" system in civil court? Malpractice insurance is a BIG component of the overall cost of health care. It would be interesting to know if HE has conflicted interests, in a similar way to somebody who is serving in two elected positions.

Re: “Janie Ward-Engelking

It seems like I am spending a lot of money for extra daycare while my children are out of school due to teacher in-service/collaboration days. Is it a conspiracy? Should my children really be in school?
9/16 staff development
10/3-10/4 state teacher conferences
10/28 teacher collaboration
12/2 staff development
2/18 staff development
Vallivue School District -I do not have kindergartners whom have even more days off.

All teaching staff have access to Google Apps for education enabling collaboration ANYTIME with a few mouse clicks including video and audio for school districts in the Boise Metropolitan seat.

Am I being duped?

Re: “Joanna Macy

"What breeds obedience to rules that you don't really believe in?"

Did she figure this one out?

It's unfortunate that the interview didn't expand on this question, since the answer gets to the root of "why we continue to drop bombs".

It also gets to the root of why the general public is so acquiescent as the nuclear cartel proceeds to irreversibly irradiate the planet.
