Gotta love these guys...
To "Really" (if that is your real name) who claim that Kate and I made fun of the Boise Weekly and the Best of Boise, you are lying! That has never happened. I don't know who you are, or why you're trolling this sight, but shame on you.
We have made fun of ourselves, saying we can't believe anyone would vote for us, but making fun of ourselves and making fun of the Boise Weekly is 2 different things.
Winning any award is a HUGE honor for us, and that includes this award from the great people at Boise Weekly. It's especially an honor when it's voted on by our listeners.
Or maybe not. Who knows. Pretty confusing deal here
They formatted it a little funny. KTVB.COM won first place, BW second.
The slogan for the TV station is Where the News Comes First. The website is #1 for Idaho News & Weather
Mike and Kate have won this category for a few years now....so it is interesting to hear them on air making fun of Boise Weekly and The Best of Boise. Classless!
It was pretty clear why de' Otter mon' insisted that every candidate participate in this debate! Something needed to make him look like the best option. This was by far, one of the most entertaining moments I had as I waited for warm weather to commence.
so.... boiseweekly.com got first and second?
Everyone needs to stand up and tell their own legislators why they support adding the words! As it stands today in most Idaho cities an employer can fire you because they suspect your sexual orientation differs from what they are comfortable with - whether you are straight, gay, or whatever. A landlord might hear a rumor that you might be gay and kick you out of your housing - the reality of who you fall in love with doesn't even really matter. Or a hotel clerk might turn you away when you show up at midnight in a small town, exhausted from driving all day - just because you don't look straight enough or gay enough for their own personal preferences. Add the Words, Idaho! -- from a straight ally who understands we all work, live, and play better when equality of opportunity abounds.
Abortions after 20 weeks only make up about 1% of all abortions. Most of these are performed when the woman's life is at risk or the fetus is not viable. Would you force a woman to carry a fetus with anencephaly for 20 extra weeks knowing it has no chance for life? Would you force a woman with toxemia to die because her doctor feared he would lose his license if he performed an abortion? These conditions are often not discovered until after 20 weeks. Women do not wake up at 20 weeks and just decide to have an abortion. The CDC statistics clearly prove that having an abortion carries fewer risks than having a baby. Making serious decisions like this should be left to the woman and her doctor. If you don't approve of abortion, don't have one.
Funny- tea parties pay the thousands of dollars fine to hold demonstrations protesting Big Government and too many Californian liberals in ID, follow the law, and clean up after themselves. Occupies destroy public property and are entitlement filled socialists who don't have jobs except when The anti Semitic George Soros funded socialist groups PAY them to protest!!
As an Sonographer, I know a patient can refuse the endovaginal exam and just have an abdominal US. Banning abortion after 20 weeks is reasonable, for they are living beings that can experience pain, and it is extremely dangerous for the mother to undergo a procedure like that after 20 weeks. Pro-abortionists ignore this fact.
neither npr nor the river are local radio stations, in any meaningful way. the programming is canned. having an office in a town does not a local business make.
Anon, actually, our Twitter feed is fed by a real live person, nothing is automated.
Too bad @BoiseWeekly's Twitter feed is fed from a media engine, and not an actual person or voice tweeting - it's not unique content. :(
We shall, we shall, we shall not be removed.
The same thing happened in California. (Mostly) smokers were up-in-arms. Vowed NEVER to return to such-and-such restaurant/bar if the bill was passed. What happened? Folks kept going to restaurants/bars and smoked outside. Lol!
Rick Moorten hosts red carpet events and hangs with Matt Pipkin which is great to promote Commit65 but to say he gives back to the community more than Mike & Kate is just ignorant. And anyway, I would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard than those 2 Wild101 morning show interns. As long as Rick Moorten has those girls are "co-hosts" to his show, he doesn't deserve Best of Anything.
I'm not sure about any of the Sarah O'Dells, but the claim "I did not post this!" hurts my head a little. As does the company you put the obvious hands-down winner for "best local blogger" in. Bored in Boise is some sort of community calendar with graphics on steroids. Gone Feral was a brilliant name, and "turning inward" is the new outward, so w00t for the cutting edge. And Independent Fashion Bloggers, who knew?
