Re: “A Thousand Backpacks

If their f-ing brain ain't ready for school, than stop taking their money until they are ready to learn and grow. Lots of grunt work to do until the brain is ready.

PS: Have not noticed a single federal stop-smoking campaign in several years. Is this because Obama is a chin-smoker?

Re: “A Thousand Backpacks

Suicide is a symptom of a screwed up society. Change society and fix the problem.

Thought for the day: I bet ya $5 anxiety & depression are contagious. Sounds far fetched, but we know that panic and mass-hysteria certainly are.

(A friend who suddenly lost his house, job, kids and wife after seeking 'help' explained the following to me): The approach to dealing with this problem is horribly broken because it will require to so called experts to change the outdated ways to 'help' a person suffering a mental/emotional problem. As it is now, if you really wanna screw up your life beyond belief, meet a bunch of truly crazy people, drug addicts, run up a $20,000 medical bill, and have an arrest record; just ask the system for 'help'. It's like taking a clunky old car to a main-line auto dealer for repairs. They take everything you have and leave you with a sore bung-hole, thus 'curing' you with the realization that what you had before seeking help was a better deal.

People do indeed need help, but the current system is a destructive trap for many, and a profit center for several businesses and professions.

Re: “Blue Collar Care, Gold Standard Caring

I've provided Health Care over the past 24 years in various clinical situations. I would like to thank the Terry Reilly patients for allowing me a life worth living.
The Staff and Administration of the organization are some of the best I've ever worked with..

Re: “Somebody's Lying: The IDOC Prison Scandal

I worked out there for several years. I can tell you that there are some highly professional staff doing a tough job in crappy conditions for crappy pay. There are some administrators, however, that are very self serving and need to go. I've seen decisions made that benefit them in appearances to the detriment of safety and the people below them. I think the new Director is good as he comes with real world experience in the Department...I hope he gets an opportunity to make some appropriate changes after the dust settles from all this.

Re: “To Chip or Not To

Just for fun thinking far ahead. I assume the roads keep getting thicker with each additional chip seal layer? How thick is each layer? Every 9 years we add a layer. It will take long time, hundreds of years, but someday.... roads will be thick and high. I wonder if humans will still be driving and how they will recycle or dispose of miles of thick roadways.

Re: “To Chip or Not To

Not buying it! Chip Sealing is BS. It's nothing more than a program to stimulate the economy by creating jobs at the expense of tax paying citizens. It ruins the aesthetic appearance of our neighborhoods. It's great for automotive glass company's, local gravel outfits, auto paint-body shops. I also believe it makes driving unsafe when sudden stops are needed. . . . Probably why chip sealing is not an adopted practice throughout the U.S.

Re: “A Thousand Backpacks

Many students are on scholarship that is only good for 4 years. That limited time really adds to the stress these students feel. They cannot change their majors, take a semester or a year off, or take exploratory classes without going over the 4 year time limit. I would love to see the scholarships become more flexible to accommodate the many students who do not have the wherewithal and maturity to finish in 4.

Re: “Somebody's Lying: The IDOC Prison Scandal

Very little difference between police/guard and inmate. Very similar mindset. Proven with testing. Prisons, courts, policing, lawyers are a complex for-profit business: America has highest rates of arrest and incarceration. It's Animal farm and they're simply harvesting profits from the sheep:

Re: “Somebody's Lying: The IDOC Prison Scandal

ah yes.....the for profit prison system joins the esteemed list of other privatization/degregulation "successes" -- enron, savings and loan, investment banking

this is not even bringing up incarceration rates where we, the good ole us of a are second to none!

Re: “Medical Marijuana Right Across the Border

To what the person said about going to CA. Dont destroy beautiful ID. It is people like you that are the problem with there ignorance. Legalizing it in ID would bring jobs and tax mony to the state, free up jails, and improve the economy. It would save and make this state money and guess what no more cartels or gangs selling it on the streets.

Re: “Is Global Warming Real? Is the Pope Catholic?

The Earth is flat and anyone who disagrees will be punished by the Church. Pollution people; pollution from chemicals is the problem. But cleaning up pollution will mean making political donors accountable. So invent a punitive tax for the ordinary person, and blame on them. (Your IP electric bill is 2.75 times higher than 15 years ago almost exclusively due to increased taxes and fees.) The Earth is alive, So are all of the other forces near Earth, such as the Sun. Earth history/geology shows patterns of swings directly related to Solar behavior. Obama and the Pope say if you pay more tax they'll make the evil Sun behave more stably. Obama just wants the money and a two-class communist society. The Pope wants members to be distracted from the fact that 60% of priests are gay AND also the man-boy problem is not solved nor hardly even addressed. The Pope also want the individual to have less power to object to the man-boy problem. Obama simply want a less powerful individual. So both leaders agree to blame YOU and tax you into oblivion for the normal and typical behavior of the Sun.

Re: “Idaho's New Prison Scandal Escalates

More locked up and anywhere in the world. More in number and more as a % of population.

It's a BIG BIG profitable business people. From the over-grown cop departments, to city hall, to the defense lawyers, to the judges, to the jails... it's all about money. It's no different than Lockeed-Martin cheering on another regional conflict or engineering another cold-war... MONEY GRUBBING MAGGOTS!! And the stupid voters who continue to approve.

Re: “Idaho's New Prison Scandal Escalates

Seems as the people that are "hiding" information and getting into inmates personal health charts and changing them, might need to be sitting next to the inmates in their cells and see what it feels like.
Integrity should be followed and people should be treated with respect no matter where they are at.
