That's right, can't respond intelligently to facts about how the supreme court actually ruled, and about the history of America so you resort to name calling.
The last quote was from founding fathers, I didn't make it up. But whatever Mick.
Anyone else care to play? Seems like Mick has just about run out of words for the day.
Warning July 1st is coming, better batten down the hatches and stay away from University's, wouldn't want to be around a campus where nothing happens.
Sorry, Nitwit, you're confusing "History" with Religious Ideology.
You need to make a video of yourself costumed as a reptile, making love to your 45 and put it on you tube. That would be hilarious.
What's wrong with Biblical Law???? The same thing that is wrong with Sharia Law or Hindu Scriptural Law, or Buddhist Law, or Talmudic Law. In a secular democracy like the U.S. each person has the freedom to choose any religious dogma or reject any religious dogma. The state definitely can't be run by the church. But I do agree with you on one thing Anthropogenic Global Warming is not based on Science. Its based on Bullshit.
"Its the reason the Right exists in the first place."
Can't let that one go... the Bill of Rights does not GRANT anyone anything, it PROTECTS the rights given to us by nature.
As the Declaration of Independence asserts, natural (or “inalienable”) rights include “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” The Founders believed that it is and was an important purpose of government to protect peoples’ natural rights.
Might go back and try US History again, I think you failed.
It's after 8:00 PM, so try not to confuse Mick with facts.....his next dose of Geritol probably won't kick-in until morning.
Mick, your making up your own facts and are lying... these are not my words or facts, these are from the US SUPREME COURT, and are current law and precedence. You don't get to make up your own facts.
D.C. v Heller the Supreme Court (2008) firmly established the 2nd Amendment is an individual right, as they had in Cruikshank and Dred Scott.
In McDonald v Chicago (2010) the Supreme Court concluded the right is incorporated against the states via the 14th Amendment.
Then you have in 22 of the 27 instances where the Supreme Court mentions the Second Amendment, they quote the rights clause and not the justification clause.
Then you have to explain the U.S. v. Emerson, 5th court of Appeals decision, where they ruled “We find that the history of the Second Amendment reinforces the plain meaning of its text, namely that it protects individual Americans in their right to keep and bear arms whether or not they are a member of a select militia or performing active military service or training” and “We reject the collective rights and sophisticated collective rights models for interpreting the Second Amendment”
Mick you are an idiot, blame everything on gun worshipers... you need to change brands of coffee.
Money... that's what drives it... profession football pays a lot of money and all the kids know that they could get hurt, but trade that for the possibility of making big money.
They view it as the lottery, another state funded scam to steal money from the poor.
What's wrong with biblical law? And the Koran is not the Bible, again making up answers to arguments we aren't having.
Last I checked the 10 commandments were what our justice system was based on... things like don't murder, steal, adultery, etc... are you saying that we should throw all those out? It's only in the last 50 years that our education system has been so screwed up that we think that global warming is a problem that a) we created and b) we can fix. When basic knowledge of science tells you that one volcanic eruption puts more pollutants into the air than all of america combined for years.
First tenant of the Bible...do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Is that really that bad?
As for privatization, please... I didn't say we should privatize the entire system, I said let's give our parents the ability to chose, if you don't want a public education, and want to not pay for it, why not have a voucher system.
I mean, if most of our elected officals and leaders in AMERICA send their kids to private schools, they can't be all that bad and wrong, can they?
And I don't need to read someone's opinion of how our schools are or are note screwed up, my kids homework speaks volumes to me about what and how is being taught in the classroom, and it's not that great.
Yay! Lets put God back in class room just like the Taliban does. Teach illiterate young kids to recite Koranic Scripture and then strap a suicide vest on them and send them to paradise, shouting Allahu Akbar! God is great! Kill the Infidels! It's called Religious Brain Washing. Let's run Civilization according to Biblical Law or Sharia (Koranic) Law. What fun!
Do you believe that Idaho's education system is failing? That the nation, as a whole, is at great risk because of widespread failure of public schools to turn out well-educated individuals ready to compete in a global marketplace? That teachers and teachers unions are largely to blame, and that salvation is to be found in voucher systems, charter schools, standardized tests, and "accountability"?
If so, then you've been lied to--by everyone from the U.S. Secretary of Education to Tom Luna to the Albertson Foundation to KTVB and a host of others who hope to cash in on the privatization of the U.S. public school system and the diversion of billions of taxpayer dollars into the hands of hedge-fund managers, venture capitalists, and billionaire social engineers.
Read the latest book by Diane Ravitch, former US Assistant Secretary of Education and a noted education historian. It's called "Reign of Error: The Hoax of the Privatization Movement and the Danger to America's Public Schools," and its the antidote to the fear-mongering, hand-waving, and outright lying practiced by those who would convince you that the sky is falling and it's the fault of the public schools.
Modern people continue to support Bread, Circuses, Weapon Worship and Gladiator Blood Sports for the same reason that the ancient Romans did over 2 thousand years ago. Blood Lust Instinct "The Abyss" is buried deep within the primitive, reptilian, human brain stem.
The Albertson Foundation carefully cherry picks data and then misinterprets data to paint as bleak a picture as possible of education in Idaho. After one of their propaganda pieces aired on channel 7 (BFF with AF) I decided to check out some primary sources. I found the NAEP reports for Idaho students and found the Albertson Foundation was using different categories to determine grade level. Actually Idaho kids do pretty well considering about 40% are poor and in crowded classrooms with limited supplies. I also found out the Foundation has a pattern of selecting pro-charter school and pro-privatization speakers for their Ed Sessions. And...the Foundation supports Teach For America. Truthfully if I was a business woman passing through Idaho and I heard the "Don't Fail" propaganda piece on TV I would run as far as I could. The Albertson Foundation is failing Idaho by portraying this state as a bunch of losers. Perhaps that is the plan...make public education fail so the privatizers can take over.
You're full of Shit as usual. The Right to Bear Arms is an Individual right only if you completely change the meaning of words in the English Language and ignore the usual meanings. 5-4 dissenting SCOTUS opinions have made all of my points repeatedly. "Justification" means exactly what it says. Its the reason the Right exists in the first place.
Does the WHOLE education system stink? Really? How have we done so well as a nation? And what are we basing our evaluation on?
The first step we need to take in "improvement" (and yes, I am saying with certainty that we have places & things to improve) is to have an honest evaluation of the problems. THAT is hard to do when information - very, very important information (government research) - has been suppressed. http://thecrucialvoice.com/2014/04/08/answ…
What has been sold to the U.S. is "standardization" practices packaged as "standards" - always better, always higher.
As I said before and will maintain forever, liberals think and act based primarily on emotion, not rational thought. That's why, when presented with actual facts that don't meet his narrow view of the world, Mick resorts to calling us "gun worshippers", "fanatics", etc. (For these same reasons, anyone who dares criticize Obama is lableled a "racist"). Bottom line....LIBERALISM = HYPOCRISY and liberals have no business being involved in adult-level discussions or decision-making.
Oh, I can't resist, one more little piece of history for you Mick...
The justification clause does not modify, restrict, or deny the rights clause. See Parker vs. D.C., Fed (2007), confirmed an individual right to keep arms and overturning a gun bans.
Also... Of 300 decisions of the federal and state courts that have taken a position on the meaning of the Second Amendment or the state analogs to it, only 10 have claimed that the right to keep and bear arms is not an individual right. Many of the other decisions struck down gun control laws because they conflicted with the Second Amendment, such as State v. Nunn
Then there is the small FACT that the Second Amendment was listed in a Supreme Court ruling as an individual right. Dred Scott, Casey v. Planned Parenthood, U.S. v. Cruikshank
I can keep going if you want as well, so to answer your own question the 2nd Amendment actually does say that every individual should be armed for the defense of themselves and FROM the government.
We are getting closer to a reasonable conversation.
Let's just focus on one little part of the most comprehendible post you have made here.
The part about nonsensical mayhem and random violence. It is your position, that guns in the hands of law abiding citizens allows them to run around shooting people they disagree with, killing innocent bystanders with stray bullets, and pointing a gun at any person that would even think of cutting them off in line at K-mart when they advertise a Blue Light Special.
If that is true, then we should see an inordinate amount of gun crime/violence in states that exhibit little to no control over guns and permits for carrying guns, correct?
So which cities and states of the US have the highest gun violence/murder rate in America. By your thinking, we should see Vermont (constitutional carry) New Hampshire, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming on the top of the gun violent crime list. But yet, for some unknown reason to you Washington DC is at the top of that list.
So Mick, you think law abiding citizens that want to protect themselves by carrying a gun are paranoid? When we have facts and history to support our actions, but you don't have any facts or history to support your case, so yeah, who is paranoid?
As with most liberals, Mick is focused on the "militia" wording in the 2nd Amendment, but he fails to realize the importance of the rest of how it reads: "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". There's nothing ambiguous about that and even a casual review of the historical data available makes it quite obvious that the intent of the founders was for there to be an individual and personal right to bear arms, regardless of whether there was a standing army or not. Another perfect example of why liberals should never be allowed to make adult decisions.....
2nd Amendment: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." When the 2nd Amendment was written, the U.S. had no standing Army to protect itself. The "Militia" was it. So if the Militia Men could be disarmed by the British taking their weapons from The Militia Mens homes, the U.S. wouldn't have the means to fight. Presently the U.S. has a standing army to protect it and in most cases arms are kept in an Armory not in soldiers homes. If the 2nd amendment said what gun worshipers would like it to say, it would say: "Every American Citizen has an absolute right and duty to bear arms in self defense in all places and at all times." Which, of course, would create nonsensical mayhem and random violence.
