If you are a person of faith, get ready to go to jail in the United States of America. I thought there was this thing in the constitution called the Bill of Rights that protected my unalienable right to exercise my religious beliefs. But now a single man in a black robe (Mr. Kennedy) has decided for all 300+ million Americans. The States have the rights regarding marriage as demonstrated by Kim working as an elected official of her state. But now the Federal government wants to take all power from the states and take our rights of free expression and religious beliefs. Wait until a Federal Marshal shows up at you home or office to haul you off to prison for not baking a cake for a gay couple's wedding, or taking photos, or saying "hate speech". It's already here as Kim and others can attest to.
THAT'S WHATS UP! FINALLY SOMEONE WHO HAS THE BALL'S TO TELL IT LIKE IT IS. PLANNED ON KEEPING MONTANA WHEN THE TIMES RIGHT....MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT
So it was cool when the Bush administration and Carl Rove ran an email server out of the RNC and deleted millions of official government emails? That was fine and legal, but this was bad? You cant have it both ways. Im all for throwing hillz in the stocks, as long as tbe last admi.istration is right there beside her. How about you GOPers?
This is not about GOP, this is about integrety, and conscience and serving the American people and not yourself. Hillary ( and many others in the WH) is the posterchild of why people are even looking at a hack like Trump. We are TIRED of being lied too. Time to roll the ol guillatine in front of the white house like the good ol days. That'll keep honest!!
wow!.......you gopeepeeheads sure are brash..................lol
Implying that Hillary Clinton is intelligent is laughable. She's a lot of things....corrupt, dishonest, annoying, condescending, just to name a few....but intelligent she's not: http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/08/hillary_may_just_be_dumb.html
Oh yeah, and the last I checked, the FBI doesn't investigate "misfiling e-mails". Hillary committed innumerable federal felonies with this whole e-mail debacle (completely of her own design, no less). Had this been anyone else, they would have already been indicted, convicted and thrown in federal prison for life....
"OK, Trumpy, you're so ("GD" word) sure Hillary is hiding something, so you tell me what you think she's trying to hide."
Exactly! we dont know cause she erased the emails!! You cant just say you deleted 30,000 + emails because you deemed them "personal" on a system that is meant for government work. Checks and balances folks. And lets not vote a person in because it's their turn please. More than ever we need someone who can bring this country back up a bit from someone who we voted for because it was "their" time. You watch...offensive is what we need.
Dear Mr. Rember. You keep using the word "infallibility" and in the the immortal words of Ignigo Montoya, "I do not think it means what you think it means." Papal infallibility has to do only with regards to teaching "ex cathedra," or "from the chair of St. Peter," under very particular circumstances. The last time this was done was in 1950.
You may refer to either https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papal_infallibility or to http://www.catholic.com/tracts/papal-infallibility for the official explanation.
Meanwhile I am glad to hear that you appreciate pope Francis' encyclical.
Lol, as usual pure garbage.
J.R.: Yes, good-stuff - and Traplines, too - but emails r being returned to scramyall...?
Good stuff, John. Interesting to read your own writing and realize that you wrote your future before it happened. That'll get you thinking. But nice of you to bring our thoughts back to our old friends, relatives and pets who are still part of our lives. (I still have the leather collar of Kallie, my long gone black lab, hanging on the doorknob of the den door, just an arm's length away from my desk.)
Nothing sells like fear. Bibi is the world's #1 fear salesman and the US is his best customer.
The 80 / 20 rule applies for outdoor tourist destinations including Stanley. 80% of the tourists inhabit 20% of the area. So the perception is overuse.
It will be interesting to see the masses try and descend on the White Clouds and "ruin" it like they have the Sawtooths (huh!??-I still don't buy that logic). Anyone who's ever driven up Forth of July or East Fork road knows that they aren't the easiest on cars and that's just half the battle of getting into the wilderness. All those beautiful places are still a fine bit of hiking from any trailhead.
The apostrophe does not belong there. The word is not used in a possessive sense. The author is illiterate.
Everything would be better if everyone just cleared out of Stanley and the Sawtooths, because that would be more convenient for Mr. Rember's personal enjoyment? Maybe when the state takes over the land, Mr. Rember can buy them and post his no-trespassing signs? Oh wait, these lands aren't under threat...Those are just made up for fundraising purposes. Just like Thompson Creek Mine, and hundreds of other proposed, existing and abandoned mines in the Salmon River Country must be figments of our imagination so that environmental groups to raise money?
And somehow ICL and The Wilderness Society abandoned their principles and their donors by agreeing to Wilderness? This ignores the fact that both organizations have been working to protect these areas as Wilderness for decades...
Maybe Mr. Rember should get off his high horse and realize that without public land advocates who have been fighting in the trenches for the last 100+ years, we'd only be able to see the Sawtooths from the highway, because of all those Private Land - No Trespassing Signs.
Wilderness, absent man's influence is a romanticized literary invention, a religion invented by the second wave of Europeans, who found a land with it's original human inhabitants slaughtered by the disease and violence brought on by the first wave of conquerors. If we were to truly do justice to these lands, and bring them back to pre-Columbian conditions, instead of phony Wilderness™ designations we should return these places to the Native American tribes, which lived in them for many millennia. A bunch of Euro-Americans squabbling over how best to treat stolen land is a joke, at best.
Read "Wilderness & Political Ecology: Aboriginal Influences & the Original State of Nature," Kay and Simmons, editors. It is a collection of scientific papers that basically disprove the "untrammeled by man" thesis. The Native Americans actively managed their homelands as soon as the glaciers retreated, and altered the landscape to suit their needs. The lush overgrown forests and devastating wildfires we see now are a direct result of European-style "civilization."
"That's the reason the White Clouds and the Boulders, as non-Wilderness, have been less trampled than the Sawtooths, which have been a wilderness since 1972."
This has been my observation as well, for decades. Wilderness designation brings the crowds, and makes the trails safe for commercial equestrian outfitters. I avoid hiking and backpacking in Wilderness areas (except the really remote ones), because the outfitters, with their metal-shod pack animals, turn the trails in to a combination of dust and dried horse manure. Wilderness campsites are the dirtiest ones, because the metal-shoe impact on them destroys any sort of grass rhizomes underneath, turning them to dust, along with the stench of horse manure, which usually covers the best flat tent sites. "Commercial enterprises" were banned by the Wilderness Act, but apparently there's a loophole somewhere that allows this abuse.
It would be much appreciated if Thursday evening in Ketchum you choose this piece to read at Lit Crawl. See you at Forest Service Park at six.
i'd have to say that steve does a really good job of making bill's point.........lol
